an endocrine specialist?
We had checkups today and my 4 yr old has almost dropped off the charts. She was 2% on her height and only 8% on her weight. The dr was a little worried. She hasn't grown as much as she should have since her 3yr checkup. They drew blood today to run some tests and we have to go see a specialist at the Children's Hospital.
Has anyone else had the same thing with their child? What should I expect with the specialist?

Tommy just saw endocrinology about two weeks ago for something else. The doctor mentioned his height/weight, but it's kind of a trend in our family to be very small. My 4 year old is barely on the growth charts at 33 lbs, but he's healthy as can be. Just little. Tommy is very small as well, only 16 lbs at 11 months (he was a preemie). It's all relative. My grandmother was about 4'11", her mom was smaller than that. My mom and dad are both 5'5".

Worst case is that she will need a growth hormone for a few years. Hopefully she's just growing at her own pace and this is just natural for her.

my daughter is also small, she goes to the dr. next week for her 12m. checkup. but the last time she got weighed was probably around 9 or 10 months and she was 16 pounds, i dont know what the "normal" for that age, the dr. wasnt concerned, she just said she is on the small side but some babies are big, some are small.

Not me personally, but my neighbors and good friends had the same thing with their dd. She just fell off the charts and had to go get blood drawn, but it turned out nothing was wrong with her and now 6mts later she is 5% on her weight, but 50% on her height. I would say that if the average height in your family is "shorter" then I wouldn't worry.

I am about 5'8-9", dh is 5'11". According to the calculations that they use dd should be about 5'5", but if she continues to grow at the rate she is she will only be 4'11". She use to be higher up on the charts but over last 2 years she has almost fallen off the charts. Our extended family isn't short, so dd should be taller. Little sister was good on the charts today for 2 1/2 yrs old she is 53% on weight and 54% on height. My 4 yr old and 2 yr old almost weigh the same (less than 1lb difference) and only about 1 1/2 inch difference in height.
