Good grief!! That is a ton! Last year at DD's preschool, we were put on a snack calendar and rotated among all the kids. It worked out that we had snackes like 2-3 times a month because there were only 7 kids in the class. The teacher also put herself and the aid on the list so usually it worked out to 2 times a month. At the beginning of the year, we had to bring a package of napkins, a package of spoons, 2 papertowels, 1 or 2 boxes of kleenex, and a box of dixie cups. This was part of the small amount of school supples we had to have!

So, to answer your question, yes that is way too much!!!!

Hi! We pay a $35 snack fee at the beginning of the year and the teachers buy the snacks rather than parents sending stuff in. It helps to avoid people forgetting to send snack etc. Also, the teachers can monitor snacks for children with allergies, etc. For birthdays, each child can bring a snack for the class but it has to be store bought.

DD went to a Montessori preschool to tuition was something like $300 / mo for three afternoons a week. You better believe they didn't ask us to provide any school supplies on top of it! However, we did have the option to sign up for snack. Given the number of kids in the class and the number of days they were attending, DD's turn came around about every 6 weeks. I did go 'all out' in providing a neat snack, including something to drink, and I probably did more than other parents. First of all, I had the time. Secondly, the person who brings snack gets to help pass it out. It is a big deal for the kid, especially if they bring a snack that everyone likes.

Personally, I think 50 cents for a carton of milk is somewhat expensive.

Okay, fast forward to 1st grade. We finally had the open house at the school. The teacher finally asked a few parents to sign up to volunteer in the classroom. Also, up until now the only snack they get is a few self-stable crackers that are occasionally donated by the parents. The snack commitment has gone WAY down. I was also shocked that the teacher didn't ask for anything else for the class, aside from the usual supply list at the beginning of the year. I even asked if we could donate books or something else to help out the teacher and she couldn't think of anything she needed. Wow.

My advice, if you like the preschool program otherwise, buck-up on the snack issue and let it slide. Preschool is only two years. It WILL get better.

There are 23 kids in dd's preschool class and we have a snack schedule. Each parent will end up providing snack 2-4 times throughout the school year. We are to provide be a healthy, two food group snack and a gallon of either milk or juice. We pay $175 a month for M/W/F 1-3:30, with this snack schedule. It's a very good deal around here and one of the top preschools in the area.

Just got a note from the teacher today, that each child needs to only provide one snack per month. It said that a lot of the parents complained. It was me!!! I just complained to you all. So one snack per month. That is totally doable.

That does seem like a lot to me too. My daughter was in preschool just 2 days a week and we had to pack her lunch those days and the only times that they wanted snacks were on days that they had something special (ex..celebrating holidays). And when we were asked to bring something, they had a list where you signed up for certain things (ex..plates, napkins, fruit, chips, etc).

I pay $310 a month for 5 mornings a week. On top of that is a $100 snack fee for the year. The school provides everything.

I pay $55 for 3 days at 2 1/2 hours per day. I have to provide snacks once a month, there are 15 kids so it rotates every day. The thing is we have to provide Healthy snacks. no fruit snacks, no candy, doughnuts, cookies, etc.. They even sent a list home of appropriate items to send. I think it's great because mine gets hyped up on sugar. The problem is you can't sne dthings that aren't in a package, like you can't buy a block of cheese and cut it yourself, you have to buy those expensive cheesesticks, or those precut cheeses, those get expensive. At least they are eating healthy.

I only had to send a box of tissues. Mine goes to a public school preschool program that just started last year.

ok when my ds went to a kindergarten readiness preschool program it was 100 a month for 3 days a week. a 15 dollar supply fee(teacher bought them pencil boxes crayon glue scissors markers ect wich they got to take home at the end of the year) they provided all snacks and beverages and they took tons of field trips(school bought a new small bus just for this) and we did not even pay for the field trips either. so to me that seems excessive that you even had to supply tp ect...thats crazy.
