We put ds in his big boy bed at 22 mo when we had to move his 3 mo old sister into the crib from the bassinet. And by big boy bed I do mean twin bed. We put one of those guards on the side and we put a gate at his doorway. The gate only lasted a couple of months because he started climbing that. He has only fallen out of bed 2 or 3 times and I think that was because he was getting down and was too sleepy. He is now 28 mo. At night/nap time if he gets out of bed after being put down - I take away his blanket. This seems to be the only thing to keep him in there unless he is really tired.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I think it is time for the toddler bed. I moved my son to his right before he turned 3 and put a bed rail up. It has been great, but he is not as advernturous as yours sounds. Now my 12 month old....I think she is going to be a whole nother story.....

My son climbed out of the crib at about the same age. I put him back in his crib and told him he had to stay there till I came and got him. He did, ( oh if he only listened so well now!) I was pregnant at the time and was fixing him a new room so about 3 months later I moved him to the big bed.

We moved DS#1 out of the crib and into toddler bed when he was about 20 months old when DS#2 was born. DS#2 just turned 3 this past weekend, and he's still in the crib. He does say every now and again that he wants a bed like his brother. He's never climbed out of the crib. He's just plain lazy. he's been potty trained since he was two, and wakes up screaming at night that he needs to use the potty, but WILL NOT climb out of his crib----LAZY BUTT!!!...

One of my DD climbed out of her crib at 18 months in under 10 seconds flat. It was so bad that after she climbed out of her crib she would climb up her dresser and sit on it until some one would come get her. Baby gates were no challenge to her either she would somehow climb over them. DD loved climbing so much that a few times we found her on top of the fridge.

I'd move her to either a regular bed or toddler bed. Good luck.

I moved my first out of the crib when he asked to sleep in a big boy bed. I went straight to twin beds (because I already had those). My second moved outof a crib when we were still evacuated from Katirna and he decided to climb out of his pack n play, exit my brothers house and go for a walk by himself at the grand old age of 22 months. I nearly had a heart attack when I went to check on him and he was gone! Luckily, a local fireman saw him wandering and stopped. When I came runing out of the house, around the block, 2 week old in arms, the police took pity on me I think.

Anyhow, he went into a twin bed with a bed rail and we have chains on all of our doors at the very top. Hopefully #3 will not be so eventful. Although I don't have a twin bed for her, I will probably go straight to that instead of the toddler bed. I think they're a waste of money. JMO

i would say she is ready for a big girl bed i skipped the toddler beds all together and put a regular mattress without the boxspring on the floor for my oldest my now 2 year old just started sleeping in the bottom bunk of the bunk beds and we have had no problems(i do put a small gate in front of the stairs don't want him to fall if he did happen to get up) but if she can get out she i ready for a regular bed/toddler bed..

I think your luck has run out and it's time for a toddler bed! My kids were climbing out of the crib at one but I have monkeys! oh wait your dd is already 2 1/2, I would get a twin matress and put it either on the floor or very low to make it easy for her to get in. unless you already have another toddler bed, but I wouldn't buy another toddler bed she'll outgrow it in a year!

Merry meet All,
Take her out of the crib now..
I knew someone who's baby climed out and fell and broke his neck... Get a toddler bed, its very low to the floor and they have guard rails on them, I just got a cute white one at walmart for $40.00
Brightest Blessings to all.

my mom said that I kept climbing out of my crib when I was really little so she just put my mattress on the floor and made a "frame" around it out of waterbed railing, you know the paded soft sides. She said I loved it and she didn't have to worry about me falling out of bed. Good luck
