My 2.5 yr old is pretty much completely potty trained..she goes pretty much independently.. anyway..she seems afaid to poop on the potty... What should I do? Also..when she was 18-20 mo she used to poop on the potty too. She seemd sooo ready but this is hindering her...she hides ...I just don't want it to go bad and have her hold it in and get constipated. any suggestions????

Gosh, my grandson does the same thing! He will ask for a diaper and will just hold it if you don't give him one or if you try to put him on the potty. I don't know what to do with the stubborn little stinker, either!

My only advice is that you should give them time. The will eventually do it. I've decided to not even try to potty train my youngest until she is 3. It was such a roller coaster trying to potty train my oldest.

My son did it, too. It just takes maturity. The other thing is I bought him the Kandoos. He was excited to try them, but he could only use them for poopy. They love the frog character, and you used to be able to sign up to get a sticker chart and all. Don't know if they still have that. It'll come. They are much more attached to their #2s because it's solid and they are afraid of something that is a part of them getting flushed. They often are afraid they are flushing themselves.

I now have a little girl who is excited about using potty and pullups, who likes to sit on both potty and toilet, but can't get into her head yet that we sit on it BEFORE we go.

My ds did this and it was sooo frustrating. We tried everything and I mean everything to no avail. He was afraid, but we kept letting him come in and watch us, and made it seem like a great experience each time, and bribed him with a favorite theme park, and even then it took months, but he finally did and now its no problem. I really think him seeing us was the biggest help, we tried little bribes (m&m's) didnt work, we had to go to the big time. I know not everyone agrees with the bribe method, but desperate times call for desperate measures.lol

I'm not ashamed to say that I bribed my son too! I bought those tiny bags of m&m's and promised him one when he pooped and it worked. Hey, you do what you gotta do! He likes to have privacy when he goes so he kicks me out of the bathroom and calls me in to wipe him. Maybe that might help her. Good luck, I know it's frustrating.

My son refused to poop on the potty for an entire year after he was potty-trained. He wouldn't have accidents he would just insist on pooping in a diaper. We tried just about everything to get him poop on the potty (and I mean everything) contrary to the advice of our doctor who told us to just give him time. One day he told me he was going to do it. He did and that was the end of it - he's been pooping on the potty ever since. So yeah, my advice is to step back and give it time.
