We were watching tv and the abstinence commercial came on. I don't know if you have seen it or not. But it is a bunch of kids and it talks about waiting til marriage to have sex. So dd is in the room and I didn't think she was listening or watching the tv, but when it was over she announces "I have to get married so I can have sex".
I was floored. I wanted to laugh or react but I didn't I just sat there. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it because that is when she would say it more.
I am so happy that she got that message and knows she has to wait for marriage, but I don't want her to know what sex is yet.
She said it again out of the blue the other day. I am just worried because she has a little boyfriend at Preschool that she is set on marrying. I don't want her to start talking about having sex and make a bunch of other moms mad when there kids ask "what is sex"

OH MY!

My daughter hasn't said anything about sex yet but she does say things she hears on tv and doesn't really know what it means. I try to keep the tv on noggin or off. When my husband is home I have to be careful about what he watches. He watches Spike tv and they don't have the best shows or commercials for little ones.

my husband is a spike fanatic too. i have taken to having him TIVO his spike shows and watching them either after the boys go to sleep or at naptime. trace picks up on every word that i don't want him to know.
I had gotten to the point where i was spelling words that i didn't want him to say but after a while he caught on to that too so i'm at square one. i guess i'd better limit t.v. to Nickelodeon or the dreaded disney channel. i hope i'm not the only mom in mom in America who is sick of spongebob and hannah montana.

Ha! I just snort/laughed. That would have been pretty embarrassing if anyone besides my 2.5 year old had heard me.

I love reading about the funny things kids say.
