My 3 yr old dd found a caterpiller last night. She wanted to take him to school today.. I said ok, but then we are going to let him go... She agreed.. We scooped him up into an old peanut butter jar and off to school she went..
I got back to preschool to pick her up and she said 'mommy he isn't moving" ok mom what do you do..... 'honey he's probably tired, preschool wore him out' she wasn't to happy with my anwser.. She insisted on taking him home until he woke up, then she would let him go.. In my mind I'm thinking this poor thing will srivel up and rot and she will still be waiting..
Her teacher said the children loved him, maybe to much....
So we brought him home and left him on the counter ALL DAY. She checked on him a hundred times....
All day I'm thinking.. now what.. do I get rid on him, tell her she has to let him go? What.. Well I forgot about him, she forgot about him.. She's in bed, dh comes home and says aren't you going to let this thing go.. he's itching to get out of here.. I'm still thinking Yeah right..
Really he is moving.... But now what.. let him go or hope he survives the night so she can let him go..
Dh decided for us... The catapiller is out side, on his own in this great big world.. The jar is put up. Maybe she will forget, and if she doesn't maybe she won't be heartbroken..
