When Wyatt gets told no or doesn't get his way he will fall apart. He cries and sometimes will scream a high pitched scream.....Yes it is annoying but i don't give in. It doesn't happen all the time but every so often.

Does your 4.5-5 year old still fall apart and cry like this?

My adult niece has a son just about the same age, and my sil was just telling me two days ago about how he still does it. They were in a book store and she was trying to get him to pick out a book and he was having trouble deciding and she told him if he didn't pick soon they'd just have to leave without one and he had a melt down temper tantrum. She was saying that he still does that periodically. So it's probably typical.

Occasionally. He's more apt to fall apart when he's tired. I think they're still trying to exert their independence at this age, and sometimes it comes out in the form of a tantrum/battle of wills.

My DD will be 5 at the end of June and occasionally she has a meltdown, especially if she is tired or hungry.

Yes! She will be 5 next month and still has fits. She was very tired today and did it several times.

My ds will be 5 at the end of July and still does. Usually only when tired and usually only at home - not very often at all out in public! So when does this stop??? Or does it??

oh is this just a phase?!?!? PLEASE tell me it is!! My DD just turned 4 last month and I dont know what to do with her my oldest DD is almost 6 and I dont ever remember this phase with her although right now we seem to be going thru a 'I want to be a teenager' phase but my 4yr old DD was once so sweet although she always had a mean streak in her that would come out on occasion right now its like everything is so tramatic she will not listen to reason hell she WILL NOT LISTEN period! She will simply tell you NO Im really fustrated with her, she will not listen to anyone at this point. We have tried everything. Corner time, time out, naps, rewards, spankings (i didnt like that), taking things away from her, quiet time, giving her choices, talking to her, yelling at her, ignoring her tantrums STILL nothing.... I hope this passes

Actually, no, he doesn't. But then again, he has never been one to do that. I think it is a personallity thing.

It appears that ends before three for my kids, thankfully. My neighbor's little boy is four and still does it though. I'm not sure at what point it becomes something that should be concerning.
