Well, my little girlie has pnemonia. We did the chest x rays and lab stuff today. It came back upper right quadrent with pnemonia- exactly where she was telling the dr on Sat it hurt.

And I guess the infection is how the blood got in the urine... so antibiotic's here we come and hopefully she'll be better in a week or so. The test for UTI was negative.

We also had specialist dr appt today ( of all days, and I could not cancel because it would take another 3 months to be seen ) and they diagnosed her with asthma as well... which we thought with the breathing episodes.

Thanks to all for their thoughts and input and just letting me run my mommmy mouth!

Joni

Wow. I'm so sorry she has this! It's too bad they didn't catch it on Saturday! Once she's much better, you can have them check her for asthma. This is why I say that. I was told dd (2) had asthma, too, but her wheezing is only when she has a cold. I have been given the breathing machine and all the meds. But I am only to use them when she is wheezing, which, of course, is only when she's sick, not all the time. I found it interesting that they classify her as having asthma (the insurance company even has called me to talk about her maintenance program), since the signs of it and the meds are only used when she is sick. She does have allergies, too, but I don't do the asthma meds for that. I always thought asthma was pretty much all the time, for it to be called asthma. I don't know if they classified her that way for the breathing machine or not.

I'm glad you got some answers, but am sorry you guys got struck with this. Poor little thing. I hope you both can get some rest.

Wow. You just never know what might be wrong. I'm glad you received a diagnosis and have medicine. I hope she is feeling better soon. I'm sure you are also feeling better knowing what is going on.

I'm glad they figured it out, but it is too bad you had to wait that extra couple of days to get her on some medication. Poor little thing! The virus I was talking about with my son (with the really high fever) has a tendency to turn into pneumonia, so the nurse told me to watch him very carefully for the next couple of days and bring him in if the chest congestion keeps getting worse. I wonder if your dd had this at first. It is nasty - this is the third day of high fever for him and they said it would probably take 5 days for the fever to get under control.

Desertmom - I have asthma and I only have symptoms when I am sick also. I've had it all my life. I am not affected by it when I exercise or any other time except when my body is run down with an illness. My little 2 year old seems to be following in my footsteps since the same thing happens to him. They haven't actually diagnosed him with asthma yet, but they wanted to put him on Singulair this winter just to try to reduce the respiratory problems that always go hand in hand with his colds. Unfortunately he had a violent allergic reaction to the Singulair, so we have just been dealing with it by using albuterol as needed. This winter seems to be better than last winter.
