My oldest ds is very social, with adults. He can also be very social with kids. I am a little concerned about him because he is very 'by the book'. It's great, to a certain extent, but I find that he tattles A LOT because people aren't as 'by the book' as he is. His preschool teachers even made mention of it to me. I told her that I don't give it any attention at home and often tell him : "I do not want to hear about it unless the house is on fire or you see blood".

I worry that by him tattling he will really start to lose friends. I mean let's face it, who likes a tattle taler?

My kids do not. I don't know if it is because I don't allow it, or they just don't do it. In my house the rule of thumb is if someone is going to be hurt then it is okay to tell, otherwise, handle it yourself.

We have a neighbor boy who tattles quite a bit. I know his teacher has commented on it. In addition to the tattling, he is also always telling the other kids what to do. He is only 6 and I can see that many kids don't want to play with him.
