Meijers has TV carts for the little ones. There is a tv inside that plays a show, and there is room enough and seatbelts for two little ones. There are two basket areas on top. Nowhere you could put another kid. Not really enough room for a large shopping trip, but good enough for most of the trips I take my daughter on. There is a choice of different characters, Barney, Bob the Builder, Dora, and the last time I went they had new carts that had at least 2 characters, one of them was Backyardigans. It costs one dollar, and I know some of the proceeds go to some charity. Doesn't take quarters, I have to go to the service desk to get a dollar if I don't have one.
I have seen other stores in the past with similar concepts. We don't have a Farmer Jack anymore, but I remember they had something the kids could ride in, but there was no tv on them. Plus, I think they were free. I remember one of the stores, maybe Kmart that used to have little karts for the kids to push, but I haven't seen them in awhile. I think maybe they got rid of them because kids probably ran into other people. There are enough adults who do that.
Does anyone use these? Would you use them if you could?

I have seen those when I lived in Indiana at meijer. They look very hard to push. I took my son to the store the other day and he rode in a truck shopping cart where he was in the front and the cart was the back of the truck. I tell you what It was sooo hard to manage and steer and you couldnt pick it up at all to move it. Needless to say I got alot of dirty looks from the rude people down here. Which are like 90% of the people.

I'm sorry - there is no need for little ones to be watching tv at the grocery store. I know it makes it easier for mom, but at what cost? Kids need to learn how to entertain themselves without electronics.

I don't even like the DVD players in cars, and we have taken 2 seven hour trips with my kids every year for the last 8 years - they can occupy themselves just fine without it. We listen to books on tape or play games in the car - one reads but the other gets carsick if he tries to read in the car, so he often colors while his brother reads.

I will never get a dvd player for my car. There are so many other ways the kids can entertain themselved. I guess that could be said about a trip to the grocery store too. I didn't have cable when they first put them in the store, and I saw it as a treat for my daughter. Thanks to my hubby wanted to watch sports, we do have cable now. The main perk I get from them now, is that she is over 30 pounds, and I have a hard time lifting her into the shopping cart seat, and she likes to wear skirts most of the time.

I remember those trucklike carts looked like they were hard to push. I can't remember if I ever used one. I don't think I did, because they usually were all in use. I haven't had any problem pushing the tv carts, but I have only used them during the day when it is not real busy.

We have a portable DVD in my vehicle. When it broke, it was an emergency. You ladies are braver than me.

However, I don't think you need one in the grocery store.

We have them in our Meijer, every time we go shopping my oldest begs, I always say NO. I can just imagine how much more germs are in there than the regular carts. Plus, that dollar, can be used for some bread lol. Thankfully tho, I can get TV on my cell so we give that to the youngest when she starts whining etc, keeps her nice and occupied hehehe.

I have never heard of tvs inside the carts. It is interesting. I do not know if I would use them or not. I have used the carts at Safeway that are like the little trucks. They are handy I guess for keeping the kids intertained, but impossible to manuver in the store. And you can not fit very much in them. Most of the time we just grab a regular cart.
