Hi all, we need to buy a new sleeper sofa, my parents live far away and they have been complaining about sleeping on the futon so we decided to buy a sleeper. The problem is, they are so expensive. My two year old will probably make a big mess of it after not to long. Anyone know where to get one cheap? I cant see spending $1000 on one!

Do you need the sofa for yourselves or more for your parents??? That is a lot of money to spend for a few visits-dont know how often they come and visit you per year. If you need the sofa for yourselves, than great and just start looking at the sales at the furniture stores. We have a blow up air mattress that we use when we have company-which isnt very often. But it is better than nothing. We all figure it beats having to have anyone that comes up to visit rent a hotel room or something.

can you maybe give up your bed for them and you sleep on the futon when they visit? Cheaper solution by far. Otherwise, check out craigslist, I see sleeper sofa's on there all the time.

Yeah, its for them. They visit about 4 times a year. They have been complaining about the futon being uncomfortable. I may just give up my bed for a while. It is alot to spend. I am sick of looking at the futon in the playroom though. I guess i gotta think about it. Thanks!

If you really want to purchase one new, Ikea and sometimes Jennifer Convertables has one on sale for less than $400.

However, I recommend looking at your local Craigslist furniture section. I bought a Pottery Barn Sleeper Sofa for $150 and it was in perfect condition, hardly used in their guest room.

Do you have Slumberland Clearance Centers or similar places near you? I would look there.

We have an air mattress as well. We usually let our company sleep in our bed and we sleep on the air mattress.
