that we are all different and that's okay as long as our children are safe.

I just want to put this out there, that's all. I've been thinking a lot about this lately because I have spent so much time pressuring myself fornot doing things the "right" way or the way all the books say I should. Well guess what-I'm doing the best I can and my children are growing and developing wonderfully! There are so many mothers (not particularly on here, but just in life) that look down on others for simple choices and make it seem like they are bad mothers. They are just different mothers. And that's okay.

end random thought

Great thought by the way. We are all hopefully doing the best we can with what we have to offer. I'm always on the hunt for advice because there is always room for improvement. No one is perfect, but I have encountered other mothers that think they are. (not on this board, in "real" life)

i also think we should all remember all kids are different and learn in different ways.. so what works for some may not work for others but thats they great thing about sharing your own tips and what worked for you becuase someone may find it helpful for them!!

Y'know what one of the first huge things I remember learning after I had my son? I was at the doctor's office, and I don't even remember the subject, but he was telling me something contrary to what the books said. I quoted the book, and he looked at me and said, "I think that you will learn that books aren't always right. A lot of the authors don't even had kids. You're going to learn that what is right is what makes sense.

Eye opening. Here I spent 9+ months studying for an exam that I would flunk, no matter what, but would pass with flying colors in the real life test by my baby.

It's like what Dr. Spock always opened his books with: "You know more than you think you do." We all make it up as we go along...listening to others' experiences and taking from it what we want.

I think what is most important is we, here on this board, all want the best for our kids. I don't sense a lot of selfishness or damaging behaviors, for the most part. I think that's different from what a lot of us see elsewhere or have witnessed in the past. We care, and I think that is what our kids will remember.
