My ds is turning 3 Wed. and dd is 5. I do tell her to make her bed at least a couple times a week. They both pick up their toys (most of the time) after being told to do so. Problem is, I don't know what expectations I should have of them for other responsibilities. Also, they both put their own dishes, plates and stuff in the sink (if they're not too heavy). I want to be consistent w/ chores but not unreasonable. When I clean, depending on what I'm doing, they sometimes want to help me especially if there's a squirt bottle or rag involved. lol

My almost 5 yr old cleans up after himself and puts his dishes in the dishwasher. He will enthusiastically put his laundry away, but I don't let him any more, since I could not find anything!!!

I have a 4 year old and she puts her dishes in the sink, help sets the table and feeds the dog in the evening.

I have a magnetic weekly responsibility chart from Melissa & Doug. It saves me from making sticker charts. It is very useful for preschoolers. It has lots of responsibilities that they can manage. You chose 7 at a time for the chart.
Get dressed
Put toys away
Put clothes in wash (that means basket for us)
Take a bath
Brush teeth
Set Table
Make bed
Take care of pet
Get ready for bed
Set table

Stop whining (that is a good one!)
Keep hands to yourself

My 4 year old puts there silverwear away from the dishwasher - no I don't let her have the sharp knieves. Helps me feed the cats and dog. Helps set the table and puts her toys away. She also helps me clear the table a bit. She likes to put her clothing away but I can't seem for her to comprehend not cramming the clothing in the drawer.

Beside some of the things listed above. All my boys including the almost 2 yr old takes there dirty clothes and puts them in the hamper.

The older ones sort the socks. (sometimes it is more work)- though they like to do it and need to learn to do laundrey also helps them with learning sorting.

My almost 5 yr old DS:
-sets the table
-puts away his clean laundry and sometimes others
-helps unload the dishwasher(after knives are taken at)-this is not told, he just enjoys it
-picks up toys everyday
-puts dishes on counter(next to sink) Im so afraid he's going to break them if he puts them in the sink
-makes his bed EVERY MORNING
-on changing sheets day he gets to rip them off (not a chore per say but he does it every time they need to be changed)
-after bath time has to make sure all his tub toys are put away
-puts his clothes in the basket

Not all are chores per say but I don't like to clean up after him for everything so he gets to do something and he enjoys it. He helps me clean 6 out of 7 days.

I have this same thing and my dd loves it! She loves to see what jobs she needs to do and put the magnets on after. I highly recommend it.
