Well, I, too, have never had my kids in daycare, but my first thought is: would the poop in the bag be considered a health hazard of sorts? I would think that would be a big no-no from the regulating body of your state. That is gross. I could see not rinsing the underwear out, but to leave poop like that for a full day - or even half a day - YUCK!

The spelling and grammar mistakes, while annoying and a pet peeve of mine, that might be normal for that person. JMO

Hi all-

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I just want to make sure I am being reasonable with my expectations...which I think I am.....I am a very fair person and definitely not "high maintenance".

I spoke to the teacher and also the director about the discrpancy on the report and they apologized...the teacher said it was just a mistake. Since then they have been much better about giving me specifics about how much my son has eaten.

The pee pee shirt just kind of ticked me off and then yesterday when I got the poop underwear I thought it was just gross. They were in another room at the same facility when they first started and when there was a poop accident they dumped the poop and rinsed (not totally clean) the underwear so that they were not so gross to deal with.

I fully understand that the people that work here don't get paid alot.....but I truly think the poop thing was just gross.

I will definitely be having a conversation tonight when I get there and I will be nice but will express my concerns/expectations.

Mommyto6 - thanks for the welcome. I used to post sometimes on the What's In Store board before they changed everything up.....and have been a lurker for some time.

I appreciate all of you taking the time to let me know what you think. I'll let you know how my conversation goes tonight.

Have a fabulous evening everyone!

I think that is acceptable. If the poop was dumped and they were rinsed even a little bit i would find that to be ok. Like i said providers are caring for alot of kids. They don't always have time to rinse perfectly or to wash the clothes. As long as they didn't have a huge amount of poop in them i don't think you should be too upset.

My kids have never gone to daycare. But Lexi is in preschool, and my MIL has had a daycare for 25 years, and I've been active within it for the past 5.

Would you expect them to flush the poop or does your daycare just leave it for you??

I'm sorry but it is just GROSS to leave poop in there. Not too mention it might stain. It is just common decency to flush it and then put the clothes in a bag.

Would you be concerned that the person teaching your children don’t know how to use the English language properly ??

Definitely. Proper use of the endlish language and spelling are very important... especially with small children. I wouldn't want the person who is shaping my childs vocabulary to be incapable to speaking corretly.

Would you be concerned about the inconsistency between what your child actually did and what the report says?

YES, 100%. They should atleast be able to get this right.

Is this the type of thing that is to be expected in a daycare setting?

Not at all. Atleast not from what I have seen. It seems like this person is lazy- with the bowl movement in the clothes, the lost clothes with the urine, the inconsistant report, etc. If I were you I would be questioning what is going on.

just my two cents.

Ok, I'm confused. Are you talking preschool or daycare? If you are talking daycare, I would say that the toilet problems should have been cleaned up, the clothes should have been returned promptly, etc.

Preschool...that is another issue. If my son had a bm accident at preschool I wouldn't expect the teacher to dump his poop, she is his teacher not his care provider. In fact, I'd rather that she didn't - I would think though that anyone would try to make sure the child did it themselves, whether daycare or preschool.

About the educational aspect, again is this a preschool or daycare? If it was a true preschool of course I'd be concerned about the teachers not being educated properly and they are teaching your children. In daycare...well, I'm not exactly sure how that works - yes I don't think they should be teaching your kids if they are not qualified, but if they aren't a 'school' per se, I wouldn't be happy about it, but I don't know how much you could really do about it.

About the inconsistencies in reports, this would neither be acceptable to me in preschool or daycare.

Hi everyone-

I wanted to let you know how my conversation went last night.

Regarding the pee pee shirt: The teacher was gone so I talked to the assistant. She seemed frustrated that I would even be asking about it...she said that sometimes things get lost if they are having a bad day and that they do their best but sometimes things get hectic. I wasn't very happy with this answer. She seemed aggravated that I would even be asking about it.

Regarding the poop in the underwear: The assistant said that it was really messy and they didn't know if they wanted me to throw the underwear away or just bag it so they bagged it. I told her that I was very surprised she would return something like that to me....since they had removed the solid waste and rinsed (but not cleaned) the underwear when they were in the previous room. I told her if there was every another pair of underwear that was messy like that then she should just throw them away.

Regarding the inconsistant report: This happened about 2 weeks ago and I brought it up immediately and the reports have been much, much better so this one seems to be okay now.

Regarding the poor spelling: I guess this is the helper doing the reports....not the teacher so I am going to be okay with this for now.

Someone had asked if this was preschool or daycare......to clarify this is a daycare.

Again...I don't want to be a PIA or anything....just wondered what all you guys thought was acceptable and what wasn't.

I like the facility with the exception of these few things so I don't see a need to change....but I will definitely keep an eye out.

Thanks for all your posts ladies....have a great day!

She was aggravated that you had a question? That would irritate much more than the pee shirt.

Our DD goes to a wonderful daycare that I can't say enough wonderful things about. That said, there have been times when she has had an accident (pee) and they have changed her clothes. They put the wet clothes in a plastic bag, tied it up and put it on her hook. I NEVER think to check her hook, ever. So usually if I forget and leave soiled clothes behind, they put a note on her daily performance sheet to "remind" me. Is there a place where your child's clothes are or do they have hooks? If there isn't a common area where you look for your child's personal items, I could see how the bag might be misplaced a day or two -- not any longer than that.

As far as the assistant being aggravated that you brought up a question? That is ridiculous. They are being paid to take care of your child. If you have a question about the care, they should be able to talk to you about it without attitude.
