So Kaylee is taking those couple of steps and daycare suggested she get some real shoes with some support. I have tried to buy her shoes from target before that fit the length of her foot, but her feet were too round for them.

Where did you buy your child's first real shoes?

I looked at Striderite's website since I know they are the experts or whatnot, but the shoes start aroudn 45 bucks. Any suggestions?

I spent the big bucks at stride rite for both of my childrens first pair of shoes, I even sprung for the bells for my dd's. I kept them for them as well. They were nice because they were flexible. But, really bare feet were better for balance, so they can use there little toes.

stride rite here too. I also heard they are good for wide feet. Ds has a couple of pairs of good shoes instead of many cheap shoes. I also like See Kai Run shoes for when they are competent walkers.
If you have a Nordstroms near you, they carry stride rite and have great sales. I went last summer and got a few sizes for about $20 each, I don't need to buy shoes for ds for at least another 6 months.

Be sure to get your child's foot measured. My sons wear extra wide shoes and the only place I have been able to find any wide shoes is stride rite. They just only get one or mabye two pair of shoes at a time. Stride rite website has a printable shoe sizer.

Sears - they had wides and were very good quality and offered great stability.. I bought all his shoes there until the last pair, which I got at Payless. Oh and they were very affordable - less than $20!

JCPenny's also has a few Stride Rites shoes too. In the past when JCPenney's has had shoes on sale, I have taken DS to Stride Rite (right next to JCP) and had his foot measured then went to JCP to buy the shoes.

I am still using Robeez most of the time. I was told that babies should wear soft shoes without support until they are 2 yrs. We reserve hard sole shoes for the park, where I fear there might be something that can penetrate a leather sole. The Robeez actually hold up amazingly well.

Check this link for sale on StrideRite - Baby Cheapskate There is a sale going on in Shoes.com

My neighbor goes to the StrideRite store, gets her kiddo's feet measured and then comes homes and buys it at amazon . I am also having sticker shock at StrideRite.

My son has extra wide feet and stride rite is the only place that I've found extra wide shoes. Do you have a stride rite outlet near you? We usually get his at the outlet for around $20. They are cheaper when the shoes are smaller and get more expensive as time goes on. He only has 2 shoes at a time - church/dress shoes and sneakers in the winter and brown sandles and sneakers in the summer.
