Ds turns two in June, so we are planning a backyard BBQ for his party. It stands with about 20 adults, 10 kids. Besides bubbles, coloring books and crayons, anyone have any good ideas as to how to keep the kids entertained? They range in age from 2yr to 13yr, most between 2 and 4 though. The backyard isn't huge, but I'm guessing the people will rotate (not everyone there at the exact same time).

Also, any suggestions to keep my sanity? We didn't throw a party for his first birthday, so this is my first time at it!

What about having them wear their bathing siuts and getting one of those sprinkly things you hook up to the hose and they run through it. My kids could spend all afternoon with one those things. As far as your sanity goes, you might have to let it go for a few hours. Don't worry, it comes back after everyone goes home.

Do you have a sand table in the backyard? If you already have one, that can waste some time. Easy arts and crafts?

balloon volleyball is an idea
What about a table where the kids can decorate their own cupcakes? You could set out frosting, sprinkles, etc.

You could rent a bounce house, I dont think they are very expensive. Clowns are also fun. Look in your yellow pages.
