Both my boys LOVE to help in the kitchen. Anything non dangerous is allowed. Mixing, measuring ingredients, clean up, putting dishes in and out of dishwasher, setting table, clearing table, getting things from the pantry, refridgerator, drawers, etc. When I use the mixer my older son can hold it as I move the bowl around or the younger DS will just hold onto my arm and he thinks he is mixing.

They put things in the toaster oven and turn on. They press the buttons on the microwave (I pull everything out). They mix their own oatmeal. Pour their milk (with help if needed), squeeze out dressing and ketchup to plate. No cutting.

If you ask them what their favorite thing to help mommy with in the kitchen they will say "Make cake". With that comes taste testing

my dd is a big foodie who loves to help......

she does alot of mixing,of course.I let her make dips and pour the ingredients in the ice cream maker(I try to find things she can feel like she made entirely on her own)

she made lunch today(bologna and cheese sandwiches, and was VERY proud-even told me to "be prepared" cause it was gonna be the best I EVER ATE

but she also likes to decorate cakes and cupcakes(I have a wicked supply of sprinkles)
