I put all the bottles in the trash today. I cannot justify giving a 2 1/2 year old a bottle any longer. It will only be a big deal at bedtime tomorrow night. It is part of her routine but it has to stop at some point. I think I will start drinking at 7pm (1/2 hr before bedtime).. just kidding. Wish me luck!

I wish you strength, guidance, patience, comfort and most of all a clear mind of this situation.

I thankfully didn't have to deal with breaking any of my children of bottle, but breast wasn't any easier than bottle breaking!!

My niece is 3 and still takes a bottle at night.. So I for one cannot imagine what you're about to face.

Good for you for making this decision when you feel it's right in your heart.

Good luck!!! You can do it, consistency (and a lovey for my ds) was key. I hope you get some sleep tonight
I don't know what to do about binkys either, I don't think ds is buying into the "binky fairy" method

Thanks for the support

My youngest does not have a binky but my oldest LOVED her binky. I only gave it to her at night for a long time. I finally told her she was a big girl and didn't need it. I just threw it in the trash. I gave her a new stuffy to sleep with and she didn't seem to mind. She did have a harder time settling to sleep but I knew it was for the greater good.

Today is Day 3 of no bottles. Surprisingly, it hasn't seemed to disrupt her bedtime routine other than a little complaining at her usual bottle time. She still hasn't drank one drop of milk. She fusses and asks where it is for a bit and tells me 'no thanks' when I try to give her a cup of milk. She drinks juice and water out of the sippy cup but no milk. Hopefully she'll come around soon. She hardly eats so I wish she'd drink her milk.

Be strong. Just keep putting the milk in her face whether it's in a sippy or a cup. I stopped bottle all together when they turned one, and I did the same thing, throw them away. For both it took one weekend, but they were fine. It's US who have to be strong. Does she eat any other type of dairy? My kids loved cheese and yogurt, so it wasn't a problem. Even if it takes you a whole week, don't give up, stick with it. But do try and put some food in her. Good luck and again stay strong.
