Dd is only 18mts and I have already had to give a way a trash bag full of animals. We still have enough to fill 2 more bags.

I also hate loud toys with NO volume. What's up with that? Why do manufacturer's think I want to listen to this thing on LOUD all day? IMO it's overstimulation for the kids and that's why there is such a high depression rate in kids and teens. They are so used to the stimulation from these toys that have flashing lights and loud noises. I try to keep these away from dd.

I don't like toys with a million pieces or small pieces. My dd loves those toys though. Playdoh still ends up everywhere. Anything that could be used as a weapon like plastic baseball bats. Markers that are not washable. I really do not care for these things, HOWEVER, if my children are given them I am grateful someone thought about them enough to buy them something. Nobody has to buy anyone a gift in life.

My DD's love stuffed animals so I don't mind those - only I don't like the HUGE ones. There is no room in their room for them. That's probably my only dislike is HUGE stuffed animals and toys. Last year for Christmas MIL bought my oldest a huge My Little Pony castle and my youngest a Dora house. HUGE. I put them in the closet. There just isn't room.

I would have to say the mini Legos, why would anyone give toddlers those sets. I had a niece and a SIL that did that on 2 seperate occasions to my kids when they were really young. The worst part is you can't see those pieces when they are hiding in carpet, the only way they get found is when you step on them!

I hate the stuffed animals too. MIL likes to give those ones with the disproportiate (sp) arms and legs, the ones that look spindly. If ds doesn't love them, they go to the Goodwill.

I don't mind when they get gifts, but if someone asks what they want I normally just give them a list of what we don't care for, ie: power rangers or anything with violence. Granted DS LOVES all that stuff and I won't take it back, but if he gets in trouble where a toy needs to get donated, it will be the first one to go. Candy is another thing - I don't let them eat much of it, especially hard candy or gum and it seems like they get alot of it.

My boys tend to come home with all sorts of toys from friends homes - I try to say no, it belongs to so and so, but the mom or kid insist that they don't play with it anymore (generally a fast food toy).

I hate when people give DS1 who's 4 toys that have small pieces that DS2 who's 20 months can't play with because then neither one of them get to play with it. Do they really think at that age, that they have seperate toys? No, everything goes into the toybox! I know it's not fair- but that's life especially when they share a room!

A *cheap* toy -- the ones that break, rip, fall apart, etc. after first touching it. My hubby's side of the family seems to give these all the time!!!!
