Some days I am just amazed by my boys. I know we all are. Bob will say something and I just think, "WOW he is growing up so quickly!" Then it's like, all of a sudden Jamie can do and say things he couldn't do last week. I just want to cry, but I am so happy, too! I guess this would be the most overwhelming part of motherhood, how quickly the time goes by.

My 2 year old is starting to act more like a child than a toddler and it is so neat. Her vocabulary is exploding and she is starting to speak more clearly. I was proud when my 5 year old asked to pull over the car so we could pick up a cup in the road yesterday. She is the litter police!!

Mine is really starting to get into pretend play. My first one didn't do that, and we didn't know why until he was four, because he's on the autism spectrum.

But my little girl is pretending to cook, bake, etc. Today she made applesauce. I think a kitchen and dress up clothes are on the agenda for her birthday. What's cool is that when she does this, her older brother does get engaged, too, so it's really good for BOTH of them.

And the other day, she was painting. I went to put things up when she said she was done, and noticed she had streaks of green paint on her body and hair. I told her she shouldn't paint herself, because I can't take her anywhere painted. Her reply, "But momma, I'm a swamp creature!". The age of two. Devil and Angel at the same time.

The other day ds brought out his bin of duplos from the his bedroom to the coffee table, played with them building towers, then put them back in the bin and carried it back to his room. He did this all without me prompting him. I was so proud, but also realized he is becoming my little bear instead of my baby bear (his cheesy nickname ) His words are becoming clearer too and can actually communicate when he needs something or wants me to notice something he did (or wasn't supposed to do, he tells on himself! ) I love it, but also realize he is becoming more independent.

ETA: desertmom, ds is getting into pretend play too and I'm so glad! When he was younger, some of his play habits and verbal ability concerned our ped (lining up toys and loss of 2 words) and we were told they were "red flags" for autism and to keep an eye in him. It is amazing what a relief seeing something as simple as pretend play is, I never thought I would be so excited about the car vroom vrooming and feeding a cookie to blue bear, phew!
