I understand. My daredevil child has wanted a motorcycle since she was 5. Our girls did receive a go-cart for Christmas when they were about 6.

My oldest DD (5) has had this obsession with motorcyles since she was a baby. She'll hear one or see one and get excited like most kids do over trains.

Luckily both DH & I agree that motorcyles, dirt bikes, quads, etc. are just too dangerous. I'd have a heart attack for sure if DH suddenly brought home one for my kids!

Oh, I wouldn't allow it.

My kids have lost several friends in the past few years to accidents on those things...they were wearing "safety gear" too.

I feel for you. I would be freaking out also. There are so many injuries associated with four wheelers. Just make sure he wears a helmet!!! That will help some. Good luck, I will be thinking of you!

Well, I'll probably be flamed for this, but my kids ride dirtbikes. My 7 year old ds races his on the weekends. My husband grew up riding/racing, and now my kids ride. My dd is only 2, but she'll get one when she's around 5.

LOL I sure there are many things that I do differently than most parents, as long as you and kiddos are happy and safe, that's your choice to do that

There won't be any flaming from me! I was just scared and nervous!! I feel better now but I don't know if I want him to get a dirt bike yet.

I know how you feel! I wasn't too keen on the idea at first, but I'm alright now!! My kids haven't ever been on a quad. Nothing against them, my husband just likes dirt bikes better!! Do you ride too?

Sometimes I do. Not as much as I used too. I have never jumped them or anything though. So I don't even know what that feels like.
