Oh my goodness!!! DH decided it would be a GREAT idea to build a jump for my 5 year old Shane to jump his quad!!! I didn't want him to have the quad in the first place but I let him get it last summer. And now he does this!! And he wants to get him a little dirt bike too and have Sammy drive the quad next spring!! I think he is nuts!! I do not like making trips to the hospital!!

And when he breaks his neck? Bet he is going to feel like father of the year then.

My sil's are intensive care nurses - I cant count how many stories I have heard about kids killing/maiming/injuring themselves on a quad bike.

Perhaps a visit to the hospital is needed so he can see what can happen when children and quad bikes meet and so a doctor can check his head to see what is wrong with him as he is being so irresponsible.

I totally agree!! If you go to my myspace page you can see it in action. DH took video last night of him jumping. Thankfully he didn't get hurt. It just scares the crap outta me.

Men! They do like to think that their little boys are invincible, don't they. I'm sorry he's putting you through this. And it doesn't help that your little boy is having a blast. I'm sorry.

My BIL and SIL (dh's brother and sister) and are like this with their boys and girls. They are driving 50cc motorcycles by age 5, start on their first quad about 2. My ds will always be the odd one out, dh says we use pedal power. Ds (2) is learning to skateboard and surf like his cousins (and daddy), with tons of protective gear of course, but NO motorized vehicles until at least age 8 (IF I feel okay about it, we'll see, MAYBE ride a quad, no motorcycles!) It makes it hard sometimes because that is their main focus, when they go camping that's what they do, they go ride in the desert. We don't want to go sit in the desert so we get left out of a lot of family trips.

sorry but I am totally against quad bikes, dirt bikes all that stuff, just me though

I would have a serious heart attack, in fact they would not be allowed to do it around me

dr's offices have seen something like a 50% increase in the # of accidents from those type of 4 wheelers/dirt bikes in children under 13....

not trying to scare you, just freaks me out!

He always wears his helmet and other safety gear. He is not aloud on it if he is not wearing everything. Neither are the other kids. They all have gear to keep them safe. I just don't like them trying to be evil knevil (sp)!!
