I need some tips, I will be flying out on tuesday, with both children by myself! it's only 3 hours

lily has flown so much in her little life, she should be ok just with her dvd player

Make sure you have your stroller. An extra outfit. A bottle or blanket for nursing. And a couple new toys. And the DVD player was GREAT!

Extra patience and rest on your part. We really didn't start having problems until I started getting tired. Not that we had any major problems but I noticed - once I started getting tired than I started getting a little cranky and the little things kind of started getting on my nerves.

I flew with both kids a couple months back, by myself, and I think I did really well coming up with things to do for my 4 year old. But the baby ... he was pretty happy grabbing his sister's things. Pulling things off of my tray.

Have a good trip! Where are you going?

The only thing I would really recommend, is to allow plenty of time...do online check in if you can, then just head to security when you get the airport. Know the deal with security (taking off shoes, laptops, liquid restrictions etc and just be prepared when going through the line).

Then all the basics...age appropriate toys for your kids, maybe a few new things really help to just pass the time.

I hope you have an actual seat for your baby on the plane and that he/she will be riding in a carseat, but I know a lot of people take advantage of a 'lap baby'. Just something I was never interested in doing after seeing quite a few babies in my years of traveling get injured, dropped etc due to turbulance. To each their own.

I don't know how old your baby is, but take your stroller and do a 'gate check', so you can keep it with you right up until you board the plane and then they pull it out when you land, so you have it right when you get off at your destination.

I recently have flown with my chidren and I have to say the BIGGEST issue I had was too much stuff! I brought the carseat, which they ended up stowing in a seat at the back of the plane since we couldn't get it in the seat right, each kid had a "stuff to do" back pack , a bag for the extra outfits, snacks and such, stroller....ugh...just too much! That was on the first leg of the trip. On the way back I did it differently for sure! First, i checked the carseat. Second, I got it out of my head that I was trying to make the plane ride all "nicey nicey fun" with toys and DVDs and headphones and such. It was a 4hour flight.....We had one backpack for 5 people. It had an extra outfit for the baby, a granola/fruit bar for each kid ( I fed them a big meal right before we got on the plane),2 little books for reading to the toddler,2 matchbox cars, a leapster with headphones.Personally, I ditched the stroller too, and opted for a sling/carrier. It was so much nicer. Forget the idea of ""taking all sorts of stuff on the plane to make life easier". It's 3 hours....Stick a bottle and a granola bar in your pocket(of cours after your have gotten through all the check points) in your pocket, your baby in a pouch, the toddles by the hand and GO! More crap on the plane to dig through means more headaches!Good luck...we love to fly!

this is what I do for baby travel... I pack 2 zip lock bags in the carry on. One I will put an extra shirt for me (spit up. spills, drool.. icky feeling from holding baby all flight) the other on I will pack extra out fit for baby ( poop through, spill, etc) then I will put the dirty clothes back in the zip bag. I also depress all air out to make compact. Many snacks, juice (you can bring it through security as long as you are traveling with children) babies fav blanket.. hope this helps.

thank you for all the helps!

I am one who tends to overpack...lol so thanks for the kick in the bottom!

Baby will be a lap baby, as $$ is an issue... and NWA told me that I could only bring on her carseat if it was a special one approved but the faa (?)
so, I am not bothering with that.

agian thanks a bunch! :-)

MOST car seats are approved by FAA they say it on the sticker that is on the seat.

I have flown with noah 4 round trips.(including a layover everytime) He only had a seat the first time. He was fine the other 3 times on my lap including a round trip to California from Indiana. I will warn you now that the biggest pain will be security check points. you can check the carseat since you have a lap baby. but if you have a stroller you will have to take the baby out and fold it up which is a pain in the butt but it is worth having in my opinon. make sure you have plenty of bottles yeah yeah liquid restrictions but if you have powdered formula you can buy water once you get thru and you can take some premade fourmula for her. I would reccommend giving her a bottle when you take off it will soothe her and incase her ears pop. You will be fine have a great flight, Just make it thru security and your golden, I would recommend pre boarding so you have more time to get situtated. Good luck!
