My four year old and 2 year old both r potty trained . this new house has a basment and the door to it is right at the bathroom. My mom came over to help me settle in for a few nights since tony is on third. Well tyler (6) asked my mom what was behind that door and she told them a boogie man ! i almost died when she told them that . I had a long talk with them even took them down there to show them nothing was there just a empty room. tyler understands but i dont think the other two do. Well a little later i heard her tell preston there was a monster in the closet for the towels right outside the bathroom . I finally told her off and took her home after that. Well now the boys will not get out of bed during the night and go to the bathroom and had accidents in the bed every night. I asked preston why he didnt get up he told me cause the monsters in there ! I dont know what to do now to fix what this woman has done. Im so mad at her right now ! Can anyone help ??

Aw, that's mean! The only thing I can suggest you did, showing them there's nothing to be scared of. Make sure you show them RIGHT before bed too, that there is nothing in the closet that's not supposed to be. Limit their drinks at night and make SURE they go potty right before bed.

Then I'd send them to your mom's overnight and let them wet HER bed! (Not productive, or very nice I know.... sorry)

First, I would explain to them, and maybe have Grandma explain to them, that the reason she said it was to discourage them from going there, as they are off-limit areas, but it was done inappropriately. There are really no such things. Then, just in case they are still afraid, make up some boogeyman/monster spray with scented water that they can spray there and even carry with them at night. Good luck! Ugh!
