How old are they? How old were they when they stopped?
Are you consitant with giving them naps?
I have to say, that I am not very consistant, but my almost 4 year old does takes naps sometimes. I have noticed, that if I make sure the tv is off around nap time, she will eventually fall asleep while she is playing. If I make her lie down in her bed though, she will cry nonstop. So, I guess letting her fall asleep from boredom works best for us.

My other children were all definately done with naps by 4.

My kids are 5, 4 and 2. My 2 year old is the only one that still takes a nap-she takes about an hour nap right after lunch-yes we are consistent. I make my 4 and 5 year old have quiet time in their rooms during that hour but they normally just read in bed, not sleep. I've found that even just that hour of rest improves their moods in the afternoon. They (4 and 5 yr old) both hate to sleep and stopped taking naps at 2, which was way too young but they go to bed at 7pm so it evens out.

Bob is 2 1/2 and even though I put him in his crib every day, he doesn't always go to sleep. I will just leave him down there for an hour or so. I need that time to recoup. There are some days that I don't worry if he has a nap or not, when we have something else to do.

My dd is 4 1/2 and gave up naps when she was around 3. My ds is 20 months and still naps every day. We are in a child care center together and my dd has to rest quietly on her mat for 30 minutes each day due to state regulations. On the weekends I usually have her in her room to watch some tv or a movie for quiet time. I need time to myself to get things done or relax.

My 5 yo does "resting time" but 4 out of 5 days she will fall asleep for about an hour. My 3yo still sleeps for 1 to 1.5 hrs a day.

They don't have irregular bedtimes either *shrug* they go to bed around 8pm (8:45 in the summer) and are up by 7-7:30 am.

I have good sleepers. DD is 6 1/2 and she still NEEDS a nap every 9 days or so, especially if she has been up late (past 8:00). No amount of getting to sleep early will help her. In fact, she can be so overtired that she can't get herself to sleep at night and the problem just gets worse. She is unbearable and totally irrational without the nap. Last week we had a couple of late nights in a row and she went to bed between 8:30 and 10:30 for about three nights. I almost kept her home from school (half day afternoon Kindergarten) because she was so spent. Seriously, until she was 4 1/2, she took a nap every day AND was in bed each and every night at 6:15!

DS is almost 5. He still takes a nap about 5x a week, but if he naps, he will be up until 9:30.

DD is almost 3 and takes a nap every day for about two hours. If she misses it, she definitely needs one the next day or she is completely out of control!

It probably has to do with genetics! Also, we were extremely consistent with naps and always made sleep a priority for our kids because my sister's kids NEVER slept (made her miserable) and it scared me to death! My husband works from home so there was never any problem leaving a sleeping kid home while I went out to do errands. The other thing is, my kids were never carseat sleepers. Every once in a great while they might fall asleep if we were coming home near noon, but in general they never could fall asleep in the car.

My 1,3, and 5 year old all take naps every day. Atleast an hour, sometimes more for the 1 year old.

My 2 1/2 yr old dd takes about a 2 hour nap after lunch each day. But, if we are out and about, a cat nap in the car seat will re-energize her fine. Though she is starting to say I don't want a nap.Which I still need!
My 5 1/2 yr old stopped his naps at about 3 1/2. Now that school is out we use nap time as time for him and I to do activities we can't do when the baby is awake. They are 3 yrs apart so he gave up his naps a little after she came along so nap time has aways been our one on one time.

i only have one that still takes naps my 20 month old dd she sleeps about 1-2 hours in the afternoon. my older kids phased out naps when they were a little over 2 with an occasional fall asleep type deal in the car or on the floor if they were really tired.
