dd (4) has a very competetive attitude... while I know it is part of every childs "stage", it has become annoying.

"I want to be first out the door!"
"I beat you"~ at supper time
"I finished my drink first"

How do you keep a lid on this type of thinking?

Although it is annoying, try to keep in mind that these types of behaviors are undesirable from preschoolers & young children but are of value when they get older. A quiet, easy going, low activity toddler seems perfect. When they do that as a teenager they are called lazy.

When my dd does that, I tell her that it hurts others feelings when you tell them you are better than them or faster. She has learned to let her sister win sometimes to make her feel better.

Your dd just needs a little coaching
