I swear my ds is part monkey... he loves to climb! He is only 18 months old and we have already moved our love seat as he was climbing onto the back of it and onto the dividing wall between the kitchen & living roon ( caught him with his belly on the kitchen table eating a necterine )

He will climb anything that he can... the couch, end table, slide you name it and he is climbing it

Oh well I guess boys will be boys but it sure is keeping me BUSY!

Oh no...it is not just boys being boys...I have a DD that will give any boy a run for his money! LOL.

My first DD was such a quiet and calm child and I swear I would look at those wild children (when she younger) and think, 'what in the world, I cannot imagine that'???

Ha. I'm paying for it now. My DD is almost 20 months and she not only climbs the back of the couch, but also the recliner chairs, making them recline so she can fall off (on purpose). She also moves the kitchen chairs so she can get onto the table. Now she has learned to scoot the chairs to the counters so she can climb onto the countertops and reach the higher cabinets. She was trying to get her own cereal yesterday morning (I was in the bathroom and caught her when I came out. The other day she climbed onto the computer desk to reach the pens on the top shelf. Her favorite thing to do is to play in the kitchen sink. She has to scoot the chair about 5 feet and then climb into the sink in order to reach it to turn it on. She can do this in the time it takes me to pee. (sorry for TMI). Gates don't work, she climbs those too and we finally stopped using them so she doesn't get hurt on them anymore.

Sigh. It's wearing me out! LOL. I'm right there with you!

I soo understand my youngest who is 6 would climb abd swing on anything
we ended up putting her in gymnastics and boy has that helped.
she started when she was 2 (older dd was allready in it and they all saw her trying to climb and swing a lot there and said since she was only 1 month away to let her ~the classes were really small~

anyhow that is just a thought maybe a tumbleing class or something it really does help (well at least with my little monkey~ its her nickname at home~

she would take the fridge door and swing it closed, climb on the kitche table and swing form it as well and take the sink in the bathroom and the door knob and start swinging like crazy

good luck!!

You are describing my 15 month old son too. He has moved chairs to get what he wants off of counters and high shelves for the past 2 months. We had to take away all of the little chairs that came with his little tykes table because he uses them to climb whatever he can. Last month I came out of the bathroom and he was standing on the kitchen table. He also climbs on the heating vent to get to the bay window! Last month he started climbing the ladder to get on the slide of our swing set out back (dh had to get a piece of wood to bungie over the ladder so he can only go up when we're standing there). Good luck with your son - we're just trying to keep ours from breaking a limb.

You said it! DS is only 13 months and has been walking for 4 so we have been climbing for the last several. His new thing this month is balancing. It's a game. "How precarious of a position can I get into and balance with a big grin on my face?" It's like he's a circus performer.

The other day I turned around and he was balancing on his toy barn (you know- the one that moos when you open the bard door) arms outstretched and giggling away. It's cute right? 25 lb baby balancing on a 5"x5" piece of wobbly plastic. Yeah - right next to the fireplace ledge. Gives it that element of danger. Ooooh.

I don't picture myself as overly protective. But i'm going to have to get a bubble.
