my 2 1/2 yr old dd has just gotten her new big girl bed. The last baby thing is gone. So now it's time to decorate. She really isn't in to anything yet. Her walls and ceiling are painted blue with clouds, her bed is white, as well as the carpet. I don't want to paint the walls. I think the clouds can last a long time. I'm worried if I do a character theme in a short time she'll grow out of that. Any ideas?

You could get those wall stickers that easily come of but stay on for as long as you want. My daughter has Care Bear ones that were on sale at Wal-mart. You could do an angel theme, garden, fairy or even a bird theme. You could get some character stickers like the care-bears or pooh bear.

I've always loved the Victorian Style Room for little girls. I haven't been able to do it because I'm not too handy with a sewing machine and to buy all the stuff pre-made is too expensive.
So if you or someone you know can sew...I think it would be a wonderful set up, just because it can last her until she is almost a teen (she may even want to keep it past that)

Here is what I am talking about (ignore the price on the right hand side):

I would do something like flowers or butterflies or even fairies. Shabby Chic makes girl stuff at Target but it is pricey. You could turn to that for ideas.

definately don't do a character theme we did that with our boys and now have to change it they don't want ninja turtles anymore...

our dd's big girl room(i've started buying stuff a few months ago) is going to be just girly no dora curtains stuff like that we decided the kids could have themed sheets those are easy to change with a solid comforter(we like down).. so dd room is pinks purples oranges and lime green the curtains are striped with a band of the same color of flowers very cute but can last a long time... we have one accent wall of lime green with uppercase living words on it that say DREAM BELIEVE WONDER IMAGINE on it then we used those peal and stick stickers of butterflys flowers ect because those are easily removed... have fun but i would definately stay away from to themey kind of a room. from a mom who fell into the trap it was pricey and 2 years later we are redoing it.
