I give my kids pedialyet when they are ill (vomiting or diahrea) to keep them hydrated...they make popsicles too. But it is expensive and our ped once told me that gatorade was fine to give them when they are ill as well, so that is usualy what I do with my older girls. I think water is the best thing for hot summer days though...and I always bring out the pop ice when it is hot too, my kiddies are more likely to hydrate with the frozen stuff than they are to continually sip on water!

It's nice to use to keep them hydrating when they are sick, but I wouldn't use it as a routine drink. Their electrolytes may go too high if they drink this when they aren't dehydrated.

I have tried this with all 3 of my kids when they have been sick with vomiting or diarrhea. None of them ever really liked it though...could never get them to drink much of it. Last time I tried this with my 2 yr old I bought the single bottles that were apple flavor. That seemed to go over the best. In general we did water though...or gatorade as was mentioned before.

I was also told once by a dr not to use Gaterade because it has sugar in it which can make diarrhea worse.

its definately not for an every day drink its meant to help hydrate your child when they are sick.. as deemom said you don't want to give it as a drink its not good for your child to be on it on a regular basis.
