She has been wanting to get them pierced for a few years now and I have explained time and time again that it would hurt and that she would have an "ouchie" after it was done. She still said that she wanted to do it.
I have waited and put it off, just because I wanted to wait for her to be a bit older so that I KNEW she understood.
She will be 4 on the 19th, so I figured now would be the time.
Well we took her yesterday. It was heartbreaking. She cried and said to take them out....I was so sad.
Now that the pain has somewhat faded she is alright with it. Plus I took my SIL with us and she spoiled her rotten at The Disney Store afterwards (should have known better than to take the Aunt that spoils her anyway. Much less after she has seen her crying )

Awww, I'm glad she is ok with it today.

I used to pierce ears when I worked at Walmart and I hated doing it. Especially when people would bring in babies. I know the babies will get over it, but it broke my heart to be the one causing the pain. I could never make it as a pediatric nurse.

I know everyone says to try to wait until they are older but my niece was 13 or 14, got them done for her birthday, and she passed out cold! Got the ears done, my SIL walked away and next thing she knew they were picking her off the ground.

I'm glad she is feeling better.

I was five when I had my first ones done and then I had a second set when I was thirteen. My lobes are really thick so the gun got stuck on my ear and the second piercings where crooked. I don't use those ones anymore so then when I was seventeen I got the top of my ears done. I use those sometimes but mostly I use the ones that I got when I was five. I was going to get my DD's done when I she was a baby but DH didn't like the idea so I guess I will wait until she gets closer to five and ask her if she wants them done.

I did my first daughter when she was a baby. The earrings kept falling out, so I had to just let them close. Then I met my husband and he would not let me do my second dd ears until she was old enough to chose it. Which I totally agree with now. I think I waited until the first was 7 and had hers redone(to wich they closed up again even though the earrings were in for a long time) and then my second daughter had hers done at 7. I have another one who will be 4 on the 16th, and she will have to wait until she is 7 too.
She has been getting mad because my oldest won't let her wear her earrings, but she doesn't realize that you have to actually put a hole in her ear for her to wear them. She is mad, but I told her I would get her own earrings for her birthday. I am going to Claires to get some clip ons. I wish they had cute clip ons when I was a kid. They were huge and ugly back then.

My 4 year old got her's pierced a few weeks ago, and she teared up. One fell out 2 days later and she had to get that side repierced. She was a trooper and didn't object to having it done again.

DD will be turning 5 in Aug and has been asking me to get her ears pierced. I always said I would let her when she was old enough to understand what it meant to have her ears pierced (ie...pain involved, not playing with the earrings, ect...) I'm afraid that if we go ahead and take her now, after the first one, she won't let them do the other ear without a fit. I'm not really sure she understands what all is involved.

My oldest dd got her's pierced at just over 2. My dh said I had to wait till she asked & she did. I did make sure she understood that it would hurt. I did have them pierce both ears at the same time. It was rough at first but in a few minutes she was over it. Now she LOVES her earrings. As soon as my youngest is old enough to ask, I'll take her too.

My neice had hers done when she was 2 (one of the reasons that DD wanted hers done) and they did one ear and she screamed and didn't want to do the other.
So when I took DD I made sure that there was two people that could do them both at the same time and it worked out great. They counted to three and then both pierced at the same time. The only thing that went wrong was that on the left ear, the gun got stuck so they had to carefully take it off and she wasn't too happy about that. They were really gentle though. Overall it went well. Now I just need to make sure to keep them clean and hope that her earrings don't fall out that way I don't have to get them pierced again...Plus the earrings were $30 because they were 14k white gold (that is what they say to use because it is less likely that they will have an allergic reaction to the metal) so I don't really want $30 to go to waste.
