We all know about baby proofing the house... has anyone toddler proofed? (lol... is that even a word?!)

DH insisted that we get a lock for the fridge when DH started walking. I didn't think that it was necessary because if he is being watched properly we would know if he was to get into the fridge. But he got it anyway and we've had a lock on the fridge for a while now. Only now DS knows how to use it. He can unlock it and open it... not a big deal to me. But if you were to leave the fridge unlocked DS gets mad and goes over and locks it. I guess because he knows that's how it's supposed to be.

Any other ways you have "toddler proofed" your home?

My youngest was the worst around 18-24 months. She got into EVERYTHING. Funny thing is, we didn't need anything for our oldest. She was never interested in getting into the cabinets, fridge, stove, etc.

In addition to the usual outlet covers, etc..

- Tot Locks on kitchen cabinets
- Oven door lock on stove
- Lock on outside of bathroom under sink cabinets
- Baby gate at top of stairs
- Reversed door knobs on bedroom/bathroom doors so I could lock them during the day to keep her out.

She was also a climber and crazy runner for awhile. She would run across the sofa and I have to watch she didn't fly off the end, which she did a few times. She darted away from me when we were in the yard or wherever she could get away (preschool parking lot) It was a mess!

I moved all the knives into a knife holder thingy on top of the counter.

Outlet covers--make sure you don't get the cheap ones that you just push in. Bobby can take those out and last October put a key in the outlet. Thank GOD the key had plastic around the part he was holding and he was not electrocuted.

I can't think of anything more than what skimommy has said.

we just have the basic outlet covers,baby gates.. all my kids have been real good about staying out of stuff.. we do keep the bathroom door closed i just don't want to pick up tp or try to hunt down the hair brushes lol.

We just have outlet covers and locks on the cabinets. (Most of the cabinets). I let her get in to the "tupperware" cabinet and the cabinet with the pots/pans/cookie sheets/etc. I figure she's not gonna hurt anything by playing with those things.
Our toilet is upstairs so I don't have to worry about her going up there and getting into anything.
We do have a baby gate in the kitchen that goes downstairs so she doesn't accidently fall off or ride a toy off the edge.
No fridge lock. She's only tried to get in a couple of times without success so I think she's given up.

Standard cabinet locks, baby gates, oven lock, etc. Nothing on the fridge but he doesn't seem interested.
Pretty soon here we are going to need to put lever door handle locks on a couple of doors to basement and exterior. He can almost reach the handles and basically just has to hang on it to open.

Also...we are going to put toilet locks on soon. That commercial with the baby that runs around from the dad at bed time and then you see him with the watch and then hear the toilet flush -- has DH freaked out! LOL. Everytime he sees that he throws this suspicious look towards DS! Too funny!
