Just wondering if any of you have head or experanced chickenpox after your kids have been vaccinated?

DS went to grandma's last weekend. One of her daycare kids came down with chickpot the last day he was there. Now 5 others who were vaccinated have it. Just wondering what to expect.

My older girls were not vaccinated and caught the chicken pox when they were two. Dh caught the chicken pox from them. He was 25 at the time and was the worst one! Their cousin (who is the same age) was vaccinated and caught chicken pox when she was around 7-8 years old.
My youngest has been vaccinated, but I imagine a booster shot will be recommended.

Both our son and daughter are vaccinated for the chickenpox. Our son got them about 3 years after his vaccination. He didn't have them real bad, mostly on his stomach and chest, and he wasn't sick with them at all Our daughter has not gotten them yet. I hope if she does get them, she gets them when she is younger. I got chicken pox when I was 20 and it was the worst thing ever. I was in bed for over a week and I ended up going to the doctor because I got so sick with them. He told me he had never seen someone with chicken pox as bad as me. Boy, that made me feel good! I do not wish that onto anyone. Hopefully, if my daughter is going to get them, it'll happen within the next few years.

Yup. Ds was vaccinated at 2 and got the chicken pox at 5 with a total of about 12-15 spots and didn't feel sick at all with them.

DS's doctor last year said that there was either a bad batch or they needed a booster of the chicken pox vaccine. He wasn't sure and was recommending that all his patients be given a booster while the gov't figured it out. Most of the kids in DS's class last year came down with it. I think this year the Academy of Peds actually started recommending all kids have a booster shot.

Last year and my kids physicals they gave the older 2 boosters, as was being recommended. Later, my youngest (she was 1 1/2) got them (after being vaccinated). Not bad at all. Spots on teh legs was about it. The older two thankfully never got them.

Our family doctor told us that kids are supposed to get a second booster shot of the chicken pox vaccine around kindergarten age. DD hasn't been exposed that I'm aware of.

It's not uncommon for kids to get chicken pox after being vaccinated, they just won't get it as severe. I was told that when my kids received the shot and booster. My ped explained that some people do get chicken pox twice, if the inital case was mild. Since the chicken pox vaccine basically mimics a mild case of chicken pox it does make sense.

Also, my ped stressed the fact that my kids keep up with the vax as it will wear off and it's much more dangerous for older kids/adults to have chicken pox than small children. (the same for the MMR and other vaccines)
