if you have a toddler/preschooler who likes to "play" at bedtime like mine does

I bought her some books on tape/cd and put them in, she listens to them and drifts off to sleep without getting up or playing. It has really been a great addition to her night time routine.

she has a toy story and monsters inc cd that she likes

but I have also found some at the library too, the "froggy" series and other simple non character ones

Good idea! I need to get her a tape player so we can borrow the books w/tapes from the library.

thats a great idea my boys listen to a kids cd and once how ever many songs i have it set to play is up there is no more talking(they share a room) but i like the idea of a book on tape..

This is a really good idea. Right now we let DS watch a movie for 20 mins while in bed. This usually winds him down enough to fall asleep.
