Is it bad that my 2 yr old still sleeps in his crib? Well, he is technically 2 yrs 2mths old. Anyways, I know this is the time a lot of parents start transitioning to big beds, but ds is still comfy and safe in his crib. He has not once tried to climb out of his crib, although I know it only takes once for him to actually succeed and fall.
Ds crib does transition into a toddler bed, but honestly, I just haven't gotten around to it. I really can't afford a real bed now, so if anything I'll be transitioning to the toddler part of the crib. Honestly, is it bad that I haven't moved him yet?

Leave him in there as long as you can! That was the age both of my boys came out of the crib but only because they wanted to. I would have left them if they were still happy. No rush.

It's not bad at all. I took DS#2 out out the crib when he was almost 3 1/2 years old. He was fine and comfortable in it. He was even potty trained for night and still in the crib. When he had to use the potty in the middle of the night, he use to climb out and get back in. Now he's been in a twin bed since we took him and he's 5 years old. We never had any problem with the transition either.

I agree completely with the other 2 comments. I have read and been told by our pediatrician that "emotionally" and mature wise-kids are not ready to transition out of their crib until 3 or later. They will let you know if they are ready before hand-you will know. Other wise do not rush it.

From my past experience, we rushed our oldest dd out of her crib and into a toddler bed and she STILL is a horrible sleeper at 10 years old! Now, our 4 year old dd slept in her crib until a bit past 3 and she is the best sleeper I have yet! Now I will have to test this theory with my 12 month old when she is older and see if I am on to something....LOL.

I've always heard that you can continue to use the crib until your child physically outgrows it (assuming they aren't putting themselves in danger by trying to climb out, etc). Both my boys were out close to age 2 for different reasons and they handled the transition fine, but by no means is it necessary.

Thanks for the input ladies! I just feel like its so much safer and easier with him still in a crib, and if he likes it still, I don't see the problem! Glad to get these responses though. You know, just so I don't feel like my kid is the only one still in a crib!

nope leave him in there if he sleeps well and likes it why change now. the only reason my two boys were in regular beds at 18 months was because they were not sleeping well they were getting to tall for the beds and went then to regular mattreses on the floor. dd will be 2 next month and sleeps well in her crib so we plan on keeping her there until spring when the upstairs renovations are complete.

DD was wanting to sleep in the daybed in her room at about 22mo. By the time she was 2, she was sleeping in the daybed without any problems. DD is now 5 and still no problems.

DS turns 2 next month and has expressed no desire to sleep anywhere other than his crib. And I have no desire to move him out of his crib anytime soon. I'm thinking maybe when DS turns 3 or 3.5.

Mine still sleeps in a playpen (couldn't afford both a crib and a playpen, so I got this one. works great!), but I've just realized he's getting too tall. lol! I do have a toddler bed set up beside it, I'm just worried about how I'm going to keep him from getting into trouble when he wakes up before me in the morning.

I have a similar problem, my 19 month old sleeps with me and has ever since he was born, he just wouldn't have it any other way. I know people have told me its my fault not his bc I let him, but sorry I chose sleep over screaming LOL. It never bothered me, but he has gotten so wild in bed he beats me up! I have a toddler bed but he won't sleep in it. He is getting up now before me- and trust me if he's anything like my son, you will know he's up! He wants his morning cereal and out of his diaper.. lol so i don't know much about your situation about I'd give it a try chances are he'll wake you up before he causes too much chaos.. I got lucky with my 2nd, he wont sleep on me-- Well, I guess in the long run I am lucky bc i wont have a fight for my bed down the road but I have to admit, I feel like hes not getting the same attn as my older? Is that weird.. I have mixed feelings about the bed sharing. I would like my bed back, so me and dh can actually sleep in the same bed again (its been AWHILE) but i think I will miss him there.. I don't know what to do LOL !!!
