This is what my husband said to me the other day. We went on a mini vacation a couple of weeks ago. He was frustrated about having to wake up at 5:30 to go to work. I made a comment about being excited that "The View" was starting back up the next day and that is when he said it. I truely don't think his intent was to hurt me or say that I wasn't doing a good job. But it did. He was raised by a SAHM, but she was the example of the Proverbs woman almost to a tee. She did all the mowing, bushhogging (tractor), 3 full meals a day, etc. The only thing she didn't do was keep a perfect house. I always FEEL that since I don't do all that his mom does he thinks that i don't do anything, and with that comment....I felt it for sure. Am I on an endless vacation? When my ds is hollering he wants pancakes, milk, cookies, etc. I sure don't feel it. I DO keep a very clean house...when I'm cleaning it, I sure don't feel I'm on vacation. I am so appreciative that he allows AND wants me to stay at home with our son. But when he makes comments like that it makes me feel like he doesn't see my job as work.

So do you feel like you are on an endless vacation, if you are a SAHM?

Far from it. I am sure he wishes he hadn't let that slip out. Last night I was at my ds's open house (second grade) and they had made up cute little packets of "All About Me" stuff for the parents to take home. One of the things they had to do was draw pictures of their parents with the caption of "this is my mom and this is what she does all day" and the same for dad. My dh's page was first and there he was working hard at his computer with his nice work clothes on looking very busy. Then came my page and there I was with a little bubble coming away from my head with a little picture of me on a lounge chair at the beach!!!! Good grief, surely he thinks I do more than go on vacation or daydream about it. The dad next to me saw it and was cracking up. He leaned over to take a better look and asked me if ds had drawn a little drink with an umbrella sticking up out of it for me to sip on while I was working so hard.

My husband and I have done a bit of role reversal this summer when he lost his job and I returned to work. It really has been an eye opening experience for us both.

No endless vacation here.

My DH doesn't understand how I can "run out of time". I will plan to do something, get sidetracked with 90-gazillion other things and never get back to the initial plan. My comment is normally ~ "Oh - I meant to do that but ran out of time today". He ALWAYS comments...."run out of time?? All you have is time".

Geeee Thanks hun!

I just wish my dh would say something like this so I can truly go on a vacation.

My dh knows better than to say something like that. I definitely don't feel like I'm on vacation. My kids don't leave me alone for 2 minutes.

He is a bit of a bear when he goes back to work after vacation. Maybe you can chalk it up to him just being cranky.

Yeah, mine hates Sundays because he knows it's his last day of the weekend and dreads all day going back to work. I know it was out of frustration.... but he can stand to point his frustrations somewhere else! lol

It was unfair. Hopefully he apologizes for being insensitive.

You earn your right to watch "The View"! If you're like me, you don't get a lunch break, EVER
