dd's school has a semi uniform, she can wear whatever on the bottom, but on top she has to have a solid color golf shirt ( collared )

she is a dress girl, HATES pants, and only occationly wears skirts

so I went to target and got those unifrom dresses, she is happy

however, she informed me this morning that her teachers assistant told her she needed to wear a pair of shorts under her dress ( that is never going to happen, she is way too sensory wierd )

if this was an issue, why not tell me, not my 4 year old, and why not have it in the book. too late to change, IMO

Our sons have to wear uniforms at their school and all the girls need to wear a pair of shorts under their jumpers. (girls are not allowed to wear pants) When they are outside playing on the playground equipment they don't want everyone seeing their business.

I can see why they might want this, but it is crazy. I know I never wore shorts under my skirts!

I would probably call and talk to her teacher directly, or stop by the school and chat with her to find out exactly what the guidelines are...but that's me.

Yep....shorts under skirts here too. My niece just has spandex shorts, that are supposed to go over her dance leotard, that she wears whenever she has a dress or skirt on. A small price to avoid a girls fanny from hanging out and from getting mulch in the undies....this is the issue at my niece's school....mulch under the swing set.

As a mother I would insist on her wearing some sort of short under her dress.

I agree, the teacher should've contacted you.

I think it is a reasonable request because I saw way too many little girls in preschool that had no shorts and I even saw one that skipped the undies. I couldn't believe it. It was sometimes a sight at circle time. If I were the teacher, I would've sent a note home. How can you not make sure your preschooler has undies on?

My dd insists on dresses or skirts, too. She wears skooters all summer. When she wears a dress, I put a pair of bike style shorts underneath. They had some comfortable ones at The Children's Place that she likes. I bought her leggings (not tights) to wear under her dresses for winter. She ruins the tights too quickly and the leggings are warmer. She sometimes complains about the shorts or leggings but I tell her she doesn't need to show everyone her undies.
