I do now see the struggles that you moms have talked about regarding issues with school and buying things, or signing "yes" to free things ( IE the religious material thread )
DD brought home a note saying that everyday after lunch they are offering ice cream for sale for 50 cents ( no biggie )
but guess what?? I have to say NO, and NO everyday. DD gets ice cream on friday evenings, that is it ( so maybe I can do one day )
I have an issue with all the snacking ( many of you know this ) and dd does not need the extra calories, we are really watching her intake.
So, I am going to be the BAD mom, while everyone else kids have ice cream every day...... UGH and BLAH, this is preschool and I am sick of it already!

nope i don't think they should get ice cream everyday heck most of the time the dessert at my ds school is fruit of some sort.. there is no way i would let me kids have ice cream everyday at school. so i don't think your a bad parent for not wanting her to eat it everyday.

Not a good feeling, is it? But I'm sure you aren't the only parent to say no so don't worry about her sitting there alone watching everyone else eat ice cream. And maybe you can send her a health-friendly snack to enjoy while others are eating ice cream, something she likes that won't make her feel as if she's missing out.

thing is, it is RIGHT after lunch that they are supposed to have it. WTH? is any 4 year old going to eat lunch then, or just wait for ice cream time. I think this is totally unacceptable, and I am down right livid about it. So in a 3 1/2 hour class, they have snack, lunch and ice cream. HUM, wonder why there are so many kids overweight....
should I voice my mommy opinion to the school?? LOL

Yep, voice the mommy opinion. I agree, that is excessive and I LOVE ice cream!!!
My kids' preschool has it once every three weeks or so and has a notice. That is different and a BIG treat. Not the norm.
I have been the bad mom lately on a number of issues, too. It doesn't make us feel good, does it???

When my daughter was in K3, I brought her in late one day at 9:30. The teacher was passing out suckers! WTH? I was so aggravated! My DD hardly ever had candy before and certainly never asked for it. I expressed my displeasure and I later found out nothing was done. In fact, I later found out this teacher gave out candy at least daily if not several times a day. Now DD is a candyholic. There is nothing much I can do now except tell her no and she still asks for it several times a day. It's so frustrating. Had I known then what I know now, I definitely would have made a big deal out of it.
I say make a stink about it. Ice Cream every day is absurd, especially in preschool. What are they going to do for special occasions?

I think your heading should read, "so now I'm going to be a MEAN parent", def. not "bad"! (I'm always telling my toddler she has a mean mom when I take things away from her or tell her no, so she'll be used to it when she doesn't get ice cream! lol)
I'd def. talk to the school about it. What dumb bonehead made that choice, anyyway?? I mean, look at the weight and health issues of a huge amount of kids these days! Are they TRYING to contribute to childhood diabetes??
