Do you or did you give juice to your toddler?

I know that a lot of people feel very strongly one way or another but I just thought that I would see how everyone felt about the subject.

I do. It's not all that DS has but he is not big on milk (it has to be chocolate.) I also buy flavored water for him. I also water down some of the juices that he has. Especially if they have a lot of acid in them, like orange juice. He doesn't know the difference.

I give my 2 year old ds Mots for Tots. It's apple juice with 1/2 the sugar of reg juice. Or I just mix 1/2 juice with 1/2 water. He only drinks 1 glass of juice in the morning. The rest of the day he drinks milk or water.

Not on a daily basis, ds always has a water cup and drinks milk at meals.

Sometimes I give him watered down juice if it is a hot day and I want him to drink more (no more than 4 oz.). Then it is usually apple juice, the citrus juices still irritate his bottom, if I do give him citrus juice it has to be really watered down.

Occasionally he has straight apple juice as a treat when we are at a restaurant or a party, but in general I see no need for juice as long as my child is eating fruit.

I'm still trying to figure out when 100% fresh juice became so evil. It is loaded with nutrients. It also has calories and, heaven knows, those growing little bodies NEED calories. The added benefit is that juice tastes good and is easy to consume! Sugar even helps brain activity.

Okay, too much of anything is bad, but come on - juice? I let my kid drink away!

We keep juice in the house and the kids drink it when they want it. I honestly don't see the harm in it either.

I would water it down for ds half and half and he actually preferred it this way. But I'd only give him maybe 4 oz. a day. Now that he's 6.5 I've pretty much stopped the daily juice altogether. He drinks water & milk and maybe once a week has juice. Sometimes I still water it down just because it is pretty strong if it is straight. He really likes it, but funny, doesn't ask for it either.

When I make juice, I water it down to save a little money. They drink milk and water throughout the day and I don't see any harm in drinking juice, either.

MY DS loves his water, just plain old filtered tap water.I am so glad he loves his water, because I grew up a koolaid freak. He also loves his milk, and gets juice seldomly.. I do have them juice boxes (that came from my deal at Target), so he will get one of those for some school lunches (that is the most he will get in one day).

This is pretty much how I feel about it. Although, like I said, I do water it down. 1 to save money & 2 to cut down on the sugar. But I water it down like 3/4 juice 1/4 water.
