I have a fun time buying toys for toddlers. You just can't seem to go wrong with them. However, this Christmas being that my son is three going on four, I want to get him something a little more challenging but something he will like.

He's a boys boy. Loves cars, planes, trains. He enjoys animals and books too. He is learning his ABC's at home and at school and is also trying very hard to write his name. I am so proud of him!!!

What was a favorite toy your preschooler received for Christmas?

Magna Doodle is MaryGrace's favorite toy..and has been for a full year. I'll have to think on other ones!

We have one of those. IT's great for in the car too when we travel. Zach has been using that a lot to help with writing his letters!!!

We also have the Aquadoodle...it's fun too!

Does he have a train set? Oh how I wish we had started Riley with a decent wooden train set earlier than we did. He LOVES them (and always has!). He spends hours playing with them, using his imagination. He is getting the train table for his birthday from his grandparents..and the other grandparents gave him more accessory pieces for it all. I HIGHLY recommend this one to any parent of a little boy!

My DS will be 9 soon and his favorite toys since 3 have been his legos and tinkertoys. They allow him to be creative and he can build anything with them. He also likes hot wheels but has never liked the track sets that go with them. A good set of building blocks too are great because they can use them on their own or integrate them with the other toys. My DS also likes transformer kind of toys - including power rangers and the real transformers. They allow him again to be creative and change/build things as he wishes.

Kids Knex are great if he's a builder! Then in a couple years you can move to regular legos, tinker toys, lincoln logs, gears, etc. There are so many great building toys! I'm getting my son a "boy" dress up trunk with boy dress up costumes that way when his sisters are dressing up my dh won't see him in tiara's and heels!
