Zach (3 1/2) is pretty much potty trained. He wears a pull up at night but does not have accidents during the day. We tried waking him up before we go to bed so he can pee in the potty one last time before sleeping through the night, but he is in the deepest sleep and WILL NOT wake up. To the point where I feel uncomfortable taking him to the potty in that state!!!!
However, every morning, or every other morning, he wakes up to a soaked bed. I do limit his fluids so that he doesn't have anything after 6:30 and if he does it's a very small glass of water and he always begs for more but I don't give him any.
What do I do?

We used pull ups with Abby, now almost four..and still have MaryGrace in a diaper at night..for that very reason. Both were fully daytime trained...and most of the time naptime trained...but both soaked at night almost EVERY night. The dr. just told us that it would be outgrown..and Abby did about 6 months ago. MaryGrace, of course, is only just 2 1/2, so I figure she will be at it awhile longer.

I made a decision long ago that if my son was thirsty, I would let him have water. I've woken up many times thirsty and it's a bad feeling. I use to let him have a sippy cup next to his bed, too. Now that he's six, he doesn't use it anymore. At 3 1/2, he's still young. Our ped said not to worry until he's over 6. I would still do the pullups until he's ready. My son does wet occasionally, (we dropped pullups when he was a little over 6) but only if he sleeps past 6am. What I also found more successful: go to bathroom right before bedtime. Don't wake him up at night, but get him up to go about 6 or 6:30 am and then let him go back to bed. It takes little boys longer to be dry at night.

My boys have been over the age of 4 before being trained at night. My youngest is 3 and is doing well during the day but night time is bad. We just use a diaper because the pull up doesn't always hold it all and they are cheaper. He is fine with it. We do limit intake and go right before bed but honestly it's just not worth it me to interrupt all of our sleep when it's hit ormiss if he will stay dry even with a night time visit to the potty. I am a firm believer that potty training will come to kids when they are ready. Boys generally take longer. Night time can take longer too.

I would go with a pullup or diaper! Save your sanity!

I agree with if they are thirsty, give them water. My ds is four and he drinks a lot of water and I would never deny it to him and he still wears a pull-up at night, sometimes it is soaked, sometimes he soaks through the pull-up (thank god for the waterproof bed sheet thingy) and sometimes it is dry. I read somewhere a while back (I can't remember is it was on the intenet or in our local paper) about a little boy who died of dehydration because the mother was severly limiting liquids so he wouldn't wet the bed and it made me so sad. My ds does not think it is a big deal to wear pull-ups and either do I .

He's still so young, I would let it go for a while. Use pull ups or diapers. Dry at night was the first thing that happened for us incidentally in our potty training journey with both our kids. Our ped told us at the time that often kids have a hard time staying dry at night, right up to the age of 10.

DD is 5 and she's still having that problem. We've done everything you have and just can't break her of it. She is in Good-Nite underwear because she does it every night. She did so good for a while with no effort. She went months without problems but she's doing it again.
Soory I can't be of any help. I'm in the same boat.

We use Goodnites as well; they seem to hold up better than pullups. Our ped said the same, that he'd probably outgrow it but since DH and I both were chronic bedwetters until after age 7 that it could be awhile. She also said to make sure DS is cleaning up the mess, i.e. changing the sheets, his clothes, or the goodnite essentially by himself.
