This happens to us every time change...and I am so freakin' frustrated I can't think straight.

Every time the time changes my kids get up at INSANE am. I am already an insomniac so having them awake during the twilight hours while I am still battling with my own issues is beyond infuriating. Dh and I tried keeping them up late, putting them down early and still they are making up their own hours....what is even more frustrating is that the hours they are getting up, aren't even the time they would normally get up if the time didn't change.

I am NOT in the right state of mind right now to be dealing with this so I need some help dealing with this. They were both up at 5am....ds#2 normally takes an afternoon nap for 2-2 1/2 hours. Do I put him down at noon or push him to his normal nap time which is usually between 1-2 or do I put him down when he's tired?

I am so exhausted and so frustrated right now. It's starting to affect me personally and I am becoming an ugly mean hostile person. I don't want my kids to get to know this mom.

I work with parents with young children and always suggest they change the timing of things like naps, mealtimes, etc. by 15 min/day for several days rather than "gee I know it seems like 2:00 but it's magically only 1:00 now so we're going to be up another hour". The whole daylight savings time thing to me is just insane.

If you are on a pretty good schedule normally, it can be really hard to change by an hour all the sudden. Try changing everything by 15-30 minutes today and tomorrow and by mid-week they should be back on track. Don't know why they were up at such an insane hour today though. Looks like you have a hard day on your hands. Good luck.

Never seems to bother my kids, they go to bed with the new time, so they wake up with it. Of course, my kids always get up earlier than yours do though.

I did notice that it messed up some of the people at the nursing home though.

yes - it effects my kids too - the past couple of days they have been up before 6 am...normally I'm pushing them out of bed for school at 7...it's driving me nuts - because I'm not ready to get up that early. I go to bed late as it is and now I'm getting an hour less sleep!!! UGH!!!

Yes, it takes a couple days for Quentin to get used to it (it doesn't help that he spent his first 2 years in AZ, where they don't do daylight savings time. I'm not sure if it is the time change or teething, but Ian has been up off & on all night the past two nights, and he's usually a pretty good sleeper.

Nope, don't think so. We went to bed at 8pm last night (normal is about 8:30), and this morning I was showered and working (work from home) by 5:30, and my little one came down around 6:45 (normally I wake them up about 7:15), so it wasn't too bad. I actually like the winter time because it gets dark earlier that mean an earlier bed time for us all. And I like the sunrise earlier as well.

Now I know why ds was weird last night! the baby (1yr old) he was cranky, wouldnt go to sleep, then got up about 3-4 times through the night. duh!

My kids have never been too affected by the time changes over the years.
