This is a post for all those mommys out there and is something that I as a future mommy am curious to know.

What baby item has proven to be your "I can't live without" item and what item did you wish you (or someone else) saved there money by not buying? (Beyond the typical baby essentials)

My sister-in-laws "I can't live without" is the Whoozit toy. It is the toy that most easily entertains him, especially in the car.

Changing table! Sounds weird, but I loved having one. When I was pregnant, I didn't think I wanted one (or needed one) but I bought my crib from a friend of my sisters and the changing table was part of the deal. We used it everyday! It made changing/dressing the baby so much easier.

My granddaughter got a pacifier holder when she was born that played music. We never used it. When she got a little older and really wiggly when it was diaper change time, that thing really came in handy. You could hand it to her and push the button to play the music. She would hold it and play with it during the diaper changing. It was heaven.

Must have - baby swing. It made our lives much easier and was sometimes the only thing that could get my sweet baby to sleep and save my sanity.

Regret - coordinating baby bed stuff. Comforters should never be used with infants so why are they sold?? Other coordinating stuff not used very long and the baby could care less what their room looks like. Wish I had saved my money and just bought more diapers with it!

I found a diaper pail to be useless. We used it with our first son b/c with your first child I think you tend to get everything there is, plus since we had it we used it (sometimes). With my second son I never used it. Just threw the diapers in the trash. We tend to take the trash out ever day or every other day at the least and I wrap the diapers up so good that they don't smell.

One thing I couldn't live without, like Lou said, is a baby swing. They're life (mostly sanity) savers!

must have: snack traps!!

must have was the safety first crib music box played heart beat,oceanwaves,rain,music. voice activated and night light helped my colicky son go to bed it was a life saver...

i agree the diaper pale was a waste got rid of it after my firts ds we used the plastic bags from the grocery and hung it outside in the back so no smell inside and at night we would tie it up and put it in the trash..

With my oldest (now 20) we went out and got bumper pads and stuff. She was such a mover I soon found her under them!! Scared the crap outta me. I took them out of her bed and never used them for the next 6 kids or my grandson. They are a total waste of money (and dangerous too) IMO.

I absolutely loved the little powdered formula divider/storage thingy... sorry don't know what it is called. But it had 3 areas to put premeasured powdered formula, and when it was bottle time, you just emptied it into the bottle of water. It was great on the go. My son also loved his bouncy vibrating seat when he was little. Some days it was the only way I could shower. I would set him in it in the bathroom with me, and could finally shower somewhat peacefully.

It is funny to read what one mommy does and a different mommy doesn't. *I agree with diaper pails...I used them for my first couple of kids, but after that decided that it was much easier to just take them to the kitchen garbage..and smelled better, too!! *Another thing I never ended up using was the jumbo sized diaper bag I insisted I needed! It was just easier to carry the small one, and you really don't need all the stuff you stick in a big one!! LOL I, too, never used a comforter in their cribs, but my 2 year old STILL has her bumper pads in!! *We tried taking them out, and her pacis kept falling through the crib slats! *I just make sure they are tied tight..and even sewed extra ties on the sides to make them more secure. *
I LOVED the swing when they were babies...mine slept in it many many times, securely buckled, of course. *It was the only way I got some sleep myself. *I set mine up in the living room, one so they could get used to sleeping in noise, but also so I could sleep on the couch in front of them!! * *Also a must have for me was a baby monitor. *I live in a larger, two story house, and there is no way I would ever feel comfortable without the monitor on.
