there seems to be much controversy over walkers. I know that I was in one when I was little.

Did you use one for your baby or are you against them?

I didn't use them for my girls, just a standing exersaucer. My SIL used one for all her children.

I did not use them, I had an exersaucer that we used till about 5 1/2 months old. My daughter is 8 months and already cruising along walls/furniture, so she doesn't need a walker.

I used one with oldest dd. She really liked being in it. She didn't start walking until she was almost 2. My ped said it could have been caused by the walker because they can weaken the muscles babies need for walking. So I haven't used it with the other kids. None of them really started walking until 15-16 months. He even advised against using an exersaucer for the same reason but I do still use it. They enjoy being in it and it is safe if I am busy.

My mom got one for DS, but he doesnt know he can walk in it. But the other day, he crawled out the side of it! I just put him in it to feed him meals now since he knows how to escape! But, we also dont have stairs in the house either.

I got a nice one, and they LOVED having the mobility. However, it really didn't work well on carpet, so they got limited use.

I think it's OK as long as you limit the time in it and have a safe home, w/no stairs. They also must be supervised in it (but not know they are, at times).

I think most of the controversy with them has to do with stairs. People should have enough common sense not to let their baby have access to stairs in a walker.

I had an exersaucer since walkers don't work great on carpet.

I didn't have a walker with either of my kids and they both walked at 9 months. With DD I had a regular exersaucer and with DS I had the Around We Go Saucer that can be locked in place or they can walk in a circle around it.

We don't have one. We didn't have anything like that, just a bouncer. I agree that most of the danger has to do with stairs, but they are still not very safe.

I didn't have a walker for DS. They are actually not sold in Canada so we just had a excersaucer that he loved. DS started walking at 9 months so there was really no need for one.
