Not only was M born in the Spring, we were living in Southern California What did you need for your Winter baby that you didn't think about with the others?

Maggie was born the end of November and the first several weeks after she was born the temp was like -10. We used the sleep sack a lot. We also had a couple of outfits that were fleece that she lived in. We didn't bathe her as often b/c of not wanting her to get too cold.

Ds was born in May, but we have bouts of ground level, cold, damp fog all year (so I haven't dealt with freezing temps, just cold) and we keep our house cool at night, about 60 degrees.

We love Halo sleep sacks, both with sleeves and without. Ds didn't like to stay swaddled for very long, his arms and legs were too active, so we started using them almost right away. We would layer a short sleeve onesie, a sleeper, a sleep sack and a little hat and he stayed nice and warm.

Rebecca was born at the end of November too. She lived in her thicker sleepers (fleece) and she had a couple fleece outfits that we took her out in. We also got her some thicker recieving blankets and not the plain cotton ones. We also made sure she had on tights underneath thinner pants if we were going out somewhere.

Lots of one piece pajamas. My kids were born in the winter/cold months (nov., jan. and march). I would do a short sleeve onesie, socks and a one piece pajamas/sleeper. My kids lived in pj's for the first few months. I tried a the sacks, my kids hated them but you should still give them a try. Good luck!

You should buy one of those infant car seat covers that covers the baby up from head to toe. I'm sure some of you other moms will know what i am talking about. They didn't have those when my kids were babies here in frigid Wisconsin, i used to have to cover them with a blanket when carrying them in and out of the car. I hated doing that because of the fear of somehow sufficating them. Those infant car seat covers keep them snuggly warm without laying directly on their faces.Best invention ever for mom's living in the frigid cold areas!

I did make a cover that is more like a blanket, but it ties to the handle so it's not right on his face. The snuggy ones were pretty expensive, even at Target.

Looks like I will have to make a fleece sleep sack to try! Thanks for the tips.

Sammy was born in Feb. here in freezing cold Montana. We layered and he was in one piece jammies most of the time. I had a few of the, gosh what are they? oh yeah, terry cloth jammies and they were great!

I would have to also say one of the car seat carrier covers I know they are expensive BUT maybe you could ask for it as a gift if someone asks or gift cards and combine them to get one... I know that you said you made a cover but I am from and now live again in an area where there is snow and wind and when it is blowing it gets in EVERY little opening.

Both of mine were born in the cold months...So my main must have were:
*the car seat cover
*the blanket sleepers
*T-shirts that snapped (they hated thing going over their heads and at Dr.'s appt. these were easy)
*little hats for wearing in the house
*socks-really cold days they wore them under one piece sleepers
