I would try the warming his sheet idea but if you really just want to hold him, do it. You wont be able to do it for too long!
When my 4yr old was born I was on maternity leave for 3mo. At the time we had a leather sectional with two recliners built in. From the time we would wake up in the morning until my dh came home from work at 9pm, Evan and I were on the couch. I held him every single day. He basically slept on my chest, while i was sitting in the recliner of the couch. My dh would come home for lunch and we'd be on the couch, come home for dinner and we'd still be on the couch, come home at night and yep we'd still be there. I just didn't want to put him in his crib for a nap when he slept so perfectly on my chest. It did not spoil him at all either. It created a wonderful bond for us and he is still a great fan of sleeping. WHen I was two weeks away from going back to work I started to fret though, wondering how he'd nap at daycare so I started putting him to bed for naps and he did fine, didn't even care. I was a "baby bed" as we referred to it and would have given anything to do it again with Connor, only he would not have any of that after like a week, he wants his crib and only his crib for naps and bedtime
Do what feels right for you, hold him as much as you can because before you know it he will be running around and not want held!
