Did any of you continue to breastfeed while you were pregnant?

If so, when did you ween, and how did you go about doing it?

DD is fifteen months and I still breastfeed her, and we just found out that we are pregnant...not due until Juneish. My husband wants me to quit cold turkey, but I just needed some good advice from other mommys who have been there. Thank you for all of your advice!!

I quit nursing dd at about 16 months. I found out I was preg about 3 weeks earlier. She loved nursing, loved it. I had to go cold turkey with her, just because I knew she wouldn't understand the whole concept of only nursing at nap time and bed.

It was a hard couple of days, and she asked for milk for about a month, but we made it through. She did get into the habit of sticking her hands into my bra to make sure they were still there, even though she couldn't nurse! LOL

good luck and congrats!

I was nursing my son (he was 10 mos old) when I found out I was 10 weeks preggers with my daughter. Dr said it was fine to continue nursing. Problem is, it became very painful for some reason so I had to stop. My son loved bottles so we weaned him from nursing and gave him a bottle. Start getting your baby used to the cup or bottle, makes it easer to wean from nursing.

nothing wrong with tandem nursing as long as you don't have a risk of preterm labor.

I haven't heard of many people breastfeeding past 12 months. Just curious- what does your peditrician say about this? I know mine was all over my case about drinking whole milk.

Everyone is different, but all my kiddos were more than ready at 12 months to start with cups. I guess I got off easy!

I haven't personally nursed while pregnant, but I had a friend who did twice. She nursed both until they were a year and weaned gradually I think. She had no issues and had the full support of her OB. I think she was six months pregnant when she weaned the first time and about three months pregnant the second time.
