Did you need to be induced? A lot of women (in general

) claim they "never go into labor" when the truth is that they just need more time. You aren't "overdue" until you hit 42 weeks. Unfortunately, no one wants to wait that long but in the absence of a medical indication, there is really no reason to induce before that. Actually, if you look at the studies, even the 42 week deadline is a bit questionable.
You are a great candidate for VBAC b/c you dilated all the way and the reason for your c-section is known: you had a posterior baby which are notorious harder to push out (especially for a 1st time mom). You are trying to get the biggest part of the head out first. 24 hours for a first time labor is actually really good!!!! The average first time labor is 17 hours. You were a little over that without even being ready. The problem with inductions is trying to push babies out before they are ready so positioning (like your case) can be a huge issue.
I'd ask the doctor what he thinks your chances of success are (your chances are very good but I'd get him to confirm that to show that he believes in your body's ability to do this).
FWIW, I went into spontaneous labor the first time and had a c-section after more than 24 hours. My VBAC was also spontaneous labor but it took me nearly too days of labor before my baby came. It was a long and tough vaginal birth but it was still way easier than my uncomplicated c-section.
Oh, and bonus for us.... our out of pocket cost with the c-section was $1000. With my VBAC, it was $0.
