Whose opinion did you take into account?

I know you can't please everyone when naming your child. There will always be someone who doesn't like it for some reason or another.

My sister hates the name that DH & I FINALLY agreed on. I know it really should come down to just what he and I think but I have also always relied heavily on what my family thinks. Maybe I just shouldn't on this topic?

Only mine and DH's...and for DD, I didn't even take his opinion into account (Lucky for me he liked it) I have had her name picked out since I was 19 (I was 25 when she was born ).

For DS, we just couldn't decide on a name; everyone gave suggestions but none were "IT" and one night driving he said a name and we decided that was it. When you know it's right~ it's right.

If anyone else didn't like it~ too bad so sad.

IMO only yours and dhs opinon should matter. Its YOUR child and therefore you get to pick the name! Its a decision for you and your dh, I guess if someone had said they didn't like the name I picked for my baby I probably would have said something like "well the next time you and I create a baby I'll make sure to consult you" but that's just the smarty pants in me! name your baby whatever YOU want, once that baby is born noone will care what the name is!

Mine and mine alone.

Several people objected to the name I chose for M'ija because it was "an old lady name." I told them that if she didn't like her name when she was grown, she could change it, but as long as I was the one doing the work of having and raising the baby, I was going to be the one choosing the name.

Only mine and Dh's...we didn't even talk about names with family/friends. We just weren't interested in anyone else's opinion or comments about our choices.

Only mine and DH's opinions were taken into consideration. We did not tell anyone the names of our children until they were born, not even Grandparents. If someone doesn't like my kids' names well that is their problem.

DH named DD.

I agree, don't worry about what your sister thinks. Your baby, your decision.

I want to know the name! I am sooooo nosy!

My sis didn't like the boy name we'd picked when I was pregnant with M and we said, "tough." We didn't end up using it when we did get a boy, though.

FIL really wanted us to use his name for baby D's middle name and we said "no way!" He's already got three kids and three nephews with his name. He'll get over it.
