My ds has had what I have been calling tummy troubles since birth. He is on Good Start Soy and now spits up very little, but in the beginning it was almost what I would call throwing up. His Dr is aweful and when I mentioned the "spitting up" he told me I was feeding him to much and to limit his intake and burp him more. I am not saying I know everything, BUT this is my 3rd child and I am very aware of how much he should be eating and when. That boy was hungry it just wouldn't always stay down. I did change to Playtex bottles and that helped and used gas drops and that helped. He still while he is sleeping kinda gasp and act like he is chewing/swallowing something.
Sorry this got so long, but I really appriciate the help.
Becky

It could definitely be reflux. I would get a new doctor if he is aweful and then you could get a second opinion.

Keep us posted. I had a baby in 2002 that was diagnosed with allergies & asthma at the age of 15 mos. He was treated as such until the spring of this year when he was diagnosed with severe reflux. Since starting his meds for that we have stopped all breathing treatments & allergy and asthma meds. It turns out the relux was spilling into his airway and settling in his lungs, thus causing the wheezing. Now he's eathing much better (more than pop-tarts & crackers) and is finally a truly happy kid. Remember his case is severe, but if you have any questions, feel free to pm me. Don't let the doctors blow you off!

My son spit up tons and I mean TONS. I remember the first time he spit up so much that my dh and I both freaked out thinking that something had to be wrong. Wewent to the dr - we weighed him and he was still gaining weight so we were told not to freak out and that until he starts standing etc he will continue to spit up. He did. We had orange stains all over our carpets when he started moving around more - orange b/c of the sweet potatoes etc. All this to say he is now 2. When he started walking the spit up stopped and never had an issue with it. I'm not saying don't be concerned...but it could also be noyhing to worry about.

OH we dealt w/that too w/my DS. It finally got better when we put him on prevacid and changed his formula to Similac Alimentum. I'm glad you're going to a different Dr. for him. SHame on that other dr. for disregarding his symptoms. If he does have reflux, he will be soo much more comfortable once it's treated. Good luck and keep us posted!!
