I've got a 4 week old with acid reflux so she tends to throw up alot. After she throws up she wont go back to sleep but she sucks on everything she can get near her mouth and has the "im hungry" whine. I don't think it'd make any sense to feed her again after she vomits but if shes hungry shes hungry right? Should i feed her again and just hope she doesn't puke it back up? Any advice?

I would Not give her crackers shes too teeny .... or any other solids just yet..Its hard to say sometimes they want to take like a small drink ... I do the rice cereal in masons bottle that helps a little.... and just let him have a lil bit.. now you saw him yesterday he goes to sleep eating all of the time... soo he sometimes will think he wants it and i put it in his mouth and a few mins later he is gone...

We will get through this acid reflux.. puking, coughing, hiccuping, burping, farting stage eventually.. we might be dead tired and ready to give in .. but we will make it

well since she was 2 weeks old she has been on Zantek, but i haven't seen any changes. She still vomits and still has severe gas. They recommended the rice cereal to make it a little heavier in her belly, but i don't think she responded well to that either. I want to help her so bad but i don't know what to do for her ;(

have you tried giving her gas drops? I havea friend who just had a baby girl, and she has the same problems. She is also on medicine for the acid reflex, but also has been told to give her gass drops. Are you nursing? If so than you might try to cut back on things that could make her gassy. Any type of foliage (like lettuce and so on) or anythign spicy. Garlic is also not a good thing to eat when bf. I hope that things get better for her!

You could try going soy. My ds had severe projectile vomiting at that age. We put him on soy formula & added cereal to his bottles & he was fine after that. He never did well on the rice cereal either, so I got the mixed kind & it worked great.

yeah, i have tried the gas drops they didn't seem to do a thing and half the time she isn't keeping it down. I've tried gripe water because a friend recommended it. Her ped says its just reflux and there isn't a whole lot i can do for her...should i try the soy with out them saying i should?

Zantac and Reglan had no effect on dd, either - we were in the same position. *Do, however, have your ped check her out. *If she's not gaining, it could be an issue warranting further tests. *If she's gaining, she may be overfeeding, but if you're nursing, don't slow it down - they need the nutritious hindmilk that comes later. *You could be letting down a lot of milk. *Are your nursing or bottle feeding? *Also, what is coming up is the old, curdled stuff. *Baby may indeed still be hungry. *Do contact your ped asap just to get tummy checked out for hernia, etc. Sitting baby up for about 20 minutes (in a swing helps) and burping frequently helps. *Unfortunately, sometimes you just have to wait it out. *But baby could also be whining because that stuff burns when it comes back up, and breastmilk helps with the burning. *Good luck, and keep us posted. *DD never really stopped until after 6 months. If you are formula feeding, switching can help. Good Starts helped a little with my son, as it's predigested. The prescription ones were just a waste of money and stress to my dd.

The cereal and zantac worked for my dd. Ds seems to have it also, but he doesn't cry like it bothers him. I always put cereal in his food to thicken it. DD did outgrow it at about 1yr. Also keep her upright for at least 15 min after you feed her. I always held them on my chest like they were standing. This seemed to put the least preassure on their tummies. I hope something helps soon! It's hard not being able to help your baby!

I had to wiat at least an hour with my dd to lie her down and if she was tired she would have to sleep in the car seat pumkin carrier or her swing. That helped a lot with the throwing up.
